Mixed Media Embroidery Hoop by Toni

Hi everyone, today I have a fun altered project that you can create using fabric and Art Anthology’s products.  I started with my embroidery hoop with muslin material.  I added some texture paste through one of our stencils and then began adding my pretty colors of Sorbets, Velvets & Coloration Sprays. For some of my embellishments I used hot glue and used them in sea shell molds. Then I primed them with gesso and continued using the beautiful AA products on them. Fun summery project, I hope you enjoyed and for your pleasure I have a video tutorial below. Have a spectacular day !

Mixed media ATC with new medium colors

Hi there !

Did you try the new colors already ? If not, let me show their goodness in a new project, ATCs !

Starting with white cardstock, I sprayed Waimea Bay Colorations. Then I droped water over it and remove it with a paper towel to let the white appear.

Using the Bubbles stencil, I drawn randomly some circles with a black pen, and paint inside them with the new Shine Ocean.

Once dried, I stamped some round designs before applying the new Flamingo over the Diamond Pattern stencil.

The flower are black die cuts with a shadow painted with the new Sorbet Summer and the journaling is stamped and cut.

The final touch was to distress the edges of the ATCs with black ink.

Here is my tutorial for this project, but you can also watch it on the Art Anthology YouTube channel :

This is my last post with Art Anthology. It has been two wonderful year. Thanks to you for viewing my projects, even maybe watching my videos ! See you around the crafty world !

Scrapbooking layout in red and blue

Hello everyone !

Back with a layout this time, playing with Velvet, stencil and ink for a neutral gender look, as the picture I choose featured my daughter and my nephew… So blue, red and black are my color choices…

After using a chicken wire stamp on the edges of the paper, I applied the Beyond the Reef medium and the Desire Velvet over the Wheel stencil to achieve my background.

The Beyond the Reef medium also colored few of the tags of my layering.

It’s amazing how the color differ with the thickness… when use as paint, I obtained a beautiful water-like blue, and as medium over the stencil, this blue is very deep !

Before layering my papers and picture, I used the Raider Colorations spray to create the small ink spots on my background…

Here is the video tutorial if you want to take a look at my creative process…

Thank you for your time, see you soon for another project…

Mixed Media Vintage Frame by Toni

Hi everyone, today we’re going to get a bit grungy.  I purchased a frame at the dollar store and decided I wanted to alter it up. I first added some lace to the frame to give some pretty texture, then I primed the surface with gesso for all my sprays and paints I wanted to add.  I’m  not really a purple kind of girl, but sometimes it’s good to create with something out of your comfort zone… It helps you grow as a creative. This project is filled with layers of lace, mixed media products, papers and embellies.  Just keep layering until you get the look you like… “It’s Artist’s Choice”. I will have a list of products used below. Take a ride to the dollar tree, see what they have that you can alter up. Have fun with your creativity ! For your enjoyment I have included a process video below. xoxo Toni

Products used:

Colorations-Warm, Sedona, Plush, Sandcastle, Raider

Mixed Media Flower Canvas by Toni

Hi everyone, Toni here and I’m having so much fun with some of Art Anthology’s NEW products… Have you checked out the store… WOW so many beautiful NEW stencils and so many gorgeous NEW colors of dimensional paints. I used the new Double Flower Stencil for this canvas. Prepped the canvas first with crackle medium and allowed it to dry. Then I created my flowers using a different method of appying the paint to the stencils. Instead of adding the medium and then swiping the excess, I applied the paints like frosting a cake and left it thick…. check out my video below for more details. Applying it this way provided a wonderful dimensional texture. And it’s so easy with Art Anthology’s gel based paints. Once the flowers were dry, I fussy cut all of them and adhered them to the canvas and highlighted the shadow areas with Minx Shimmering Inks. Finishing off the canvas with a dry brushing of Amber Sorbet (from the rust set). Hope you give this technique a try, so much fun experimenting with mixed media. Wishing you a day filled with love & peace.

For your pleasure I have included a video to share my creative process. xoxo Toni

Daffodil card with mediums and stencil

Hello everyone !

Here I am again with a different project, still inspired but Spring but in terms of colors this time, and by my favorite artistic movement, the Art Nouveau :

This card was first cut with an electronic machine, but dies can work too…

I use the resist technique with the Art Nouveau stencil and Glass Sorbet, as well as Glorious and Avocado (you can use Granny Smith too) Colorations sprays, on the center part of the card.

Frame, card base and stem were painted in Kelly Green Shine and Shamrock Velvet (you can use Gecko Green Velvet instead).

The flowers were painted with Canary Shine and Dayglow Yellow. The mat was in Dayglow Yellow too.

I just add a sentiment to finish my card…

As usual, here is my video tutorial to guide you to create this card :

Thank you for your time, see you next month for another project…

Have a great day !

Spring Art journal spread

Hello everyone !

March is the first month of Spring and I’m lucky enough to be in the South of U.S., so trees are blossoming and full of birds’ nests again (sorry for those under snow right now…). All this flowering inspired me to create my new art journal spread, using Colorations sprays, Velvet, Shine and Metal Effect…

With strips of asian journal paper over gessoed pages, I sprayed Peacock Feathers and Waimea bay Colorations to start my background.

Some round stamps and cherry blossom stamps in black complete this background, with few of the flowers colored with a white gel pen. I also added strokes of Cotton Velvet to add touches of light .

I used also the Floral Tile stencil with Gold Metal Effect medium before gluing cherry blossom branches (cut with a machine in white paper). The branches were painted in Onyx Shine and the flowers in Cotton Candy Velvet.

I finally added the journaling, written on a white paper strip and painted in Cotton Candy Velvet.

Wanna try art journaling but need a push ? Take a look at my video tutorial for some help with this design…

Thank for your time, and see you soon for another project…

Sculpted Flowers and Altered Frame by Toni

Hi everyone, Toni here and let’s do some sculpting today with some very old flowers. I used Art Basic Sculpture Medium and soaked my flowers and allowed to dry overnight, then primed them with gesso. Next I sprayed each flower with different colors of Colorations Sprays. The butterflies were die cut with grunge paper and embossed and then acetate was also die cut and painted with the some gorgeous sorbet paints for a 3D effect. On the frame I used Clear Coat Glass and ran it through our stencil, dried completely then sprayed for an antique look with Colorations-Warm.  Fun and easy project, something a little different. Go grab some of those old flowers that you haven’t used forever and give them some new life.   For your pleasure I have also included a process video below of my creative process. xoxo Toni

Supplies used:

Colorations: Timeless, Glorious, Plush, Juicy, Patience, Barbie, Warm

Clear Coat-Glass

Sorbet-Bella Boo, Seaweed, Sea Serpent, Flamingo, Sunrise, Summer

Layout with the new Velvet…

Hello there !

New Velvet have hit the store, and as they are bright, I had to create something with them !

The new mediums weren’t the only things in my DT box, I also found plenty of new stencils and I choose the Double Flower stencil by our DT member Marleen to build my background…

I outlined the stencil with a black pen first, and once done, I used a black Sharpie to fill the lines. I continued with the stencil to create flowers along a down left – upper right diagonal.

Once all the flowers were drawn, I started to paint the inside of the flowers and leaves. Taffy Velvet and Beyond the Reef for the petals, Gecko Green for the leaves and Dayglow Yellow for the pistils.

I then added some Dayglow Yellow on the corners before adding my title, and paint a mat for my picture in the same color.

You can find hereafter (or on the AA YouTube channel) the video tutorial to learn how to create this kind of background :

Thank you for stopping by today and for reading this post ! See you soon for another project…

Valentine’s altered heart box

Hi there !

Valentine’s day is around the corner and you’re so not ready ? I have a new project for you, an heart altered box :

It is a fun mixed media project to create for your Valentine, and you can filled it with chocolates, candies or lingerie if you want !

I started with a cardboard box and the Lotus stencil with Mud Paste (you can use heavy gesso or texture paste too). Once dried, I added some lace clay embellishments I prepared in advance (but you can you chipboard or wood ones) and covered everything with white gesso.

The box was then painted with Rose Velvet medium and set aside to dry… Meanwhile, I did covered all my embellishments with white gesso (paper flowers, metal leaves and flowers, clay flowers and letters).

They were then painted with Portobello Velvet medium or Rose Velvet medium, with touches of Kona Velvet or Fiesta Velvet.

The last part was to to create clusters and place the letters on the box ! A matching lace on the edge was the perfect final touch.

To help you create this box, I made a video tutorial that you can watch here or on the Art Anthology YouTube channel :

Thank you for your time. Hope to see you soon on our blog !
