Halloween ATC

Hello there !

October is going so fast ! I’m way behind for my Halloween decorations but I managed to create something for the blog before being buried in spider web… Take a look at my Halloween ATC !

I started on white cardtock with Colorations sprays in Juicy and Timeless before playing with the Wheel stencil using a baby wipe and a purple pen.

After stamping some Halloween designs in black ink on the ATCs, I stamped the 31 frame on white cardstock and painted it with Fiji Velvet medium. I also cut small stripes of paper, painted them with the same color, and write on it for the sentiment.

I almost forgot ! I used one of the stencil of the Argyle stack with Fiji Velvet on these ATCs…

It is obvious that I was inspired by the October moodboard for this project…

Art journaling with Hexi stencil stack

Hello !

Have you ever tried to use all the stencils from the same stack at once ? That’s what my project is all about today ! Let’s see how I used the Hexi stencil stack

It’s not THE way of using it, just A way to do so, because you could use them separately or together, aligned or not… I decided to align them for this project, each one with a different medium. I started with the medium Hexi and Glorious Colorations spray, followed by the hollowed Hexi and Tango Velvet, and then the larger Hexi with Dazzle Clear Coat.

Once each coat was dried, I added some Waimea Bay Colorations spray and wipe the excess from the Hexi pattern. You can see that the blue did not go on the Hexi pattern thanks to the clear coat.

A bit of chevron stamp, black alpha stickers, some black on the edges and my journal pages were done !

You can follow my creative process through my video tutorial here or on the Art Anthology YouTube channel (as many of our DT videos…) :

Thank you for your time, I hope this tutorial will help you use the stencil stacks more often !

Have a great day…

Chipboard frame with the September moodboard

Hi everyone !

The beautiful moodboard inspire me this month to decorate a chipboard frame with the deep and luxurious colors of this board :

I kept the petunias in mind to create my flowers and the amber look of the leather jacket. Here is the result :

The base is a blank chipboard frame that I decorated with AA mediums, Colorations spray and stencil… I created the flowers with 7 big flower punches and the Azalea Shine, Grape Shine and DragonFruit Velvet.

I applied Bone Stone Effect medium on the centerpiece, then gel medium over Gothic stencil, and Patience Colorations spray.

The stems were created with air dry clay, and brushed with some Amber Gemstones medium (you can find it in the Rust texture set) and Glass Sorbet.

The top frame and the title were painted with Amber (Rust Texture set).

You can learn how to create the flowers and the general process of this project in my new tutorial here or on the Art Anthology channel :

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope I did inspired you to create more with your AA products !

See you soon…

Faux leather book wooden box

Hi there !

We are at the end of August, back-to-school is already behind us, it’s time to dive into books… Wait what ? Yes books… You know I’m talking about mixed media, right ? My project for today is an altered wooden box, in shape of a book ! And what did I do with it ? Make it look like a leather covered book !

The technique I used to create this leather look is imprint a rubber stamp into Mud Texture paste ! You just have to apply a layer of Mud paste, let it dry almost competely and then press the stamp over the paste and remove carefully…

Once dry, you can paint it as you want. Here I used Chocolate Sorbet (you can also use the Kona Velvet) and Cocoa Shine to give this old leather look.

And I used Teal Velvet and Copper Metallic from the Patina Texture set to give an antique look at my metal embellishments.

This imprint technique is a real deal ! It does look like emboss leather !

As always, I made a video tutorial for you to follow this particular technique and enjoy the transformation of a plain wood box into an leather like book…

Thank you for stopping by the blog today ! I hope you liked this new project… See you soon for another one !

Have a great day !

Altered Chinese fan with the patina set

Hello there !

I’m so glad to be back on the Art anthology blog ! It was a long summer without crafting during my vacation and it’s so good to create again ! What do I have for you today ? Another mixed media project ! This time I altered a Chinese wood fan using the Patina set, stencils, Mud Paste… Take a look !

After a coat of Gesso, I painted entirely the fan with Rose Velvet medium. Next, I used the Floral tiles stencil with Teal Matte from the Patina set. Once dry, I applied Mud paste over the Blossom stencil on each side of the fan.

To colorize and give dimension to the cherry blossom branch, I use the Seafom Stone Texture and the Copper Metallic from the same Patina set. To make it pop from the background, I just use a brown pen to outline the design. I also use the Copper on the edge of the fan.

After that, I just glued the embellishments covered in white gesso on the fan, and painted them with Rose Velvet or Teal matte (Patina set) before adding touches of Copper Metallic.

If you like to know more about the process of this project, you could watch the video tutorial here or on the AA channel there (where you could find other beautiful projects…).

Thank you for stopping by today ! I hope to see you very soon for another project…

FLY mini-book, by Marleen

Hello everyone, Marleen here with a mini-book tutorial for you.

My inspiration came from everywhere!! Do you remember my earlier post about the lace book cover I made?? Well I promised you to show the inside later on. Guess what, the cover was too small for all those pages.
So I made a bigger cover now and finished the inside pages!

I used many many Art Anthology stencils you can find them all HERE.

Here you can see the video tutorial:

Hope it inspired you all 😉

Fish for love – An art journal spread

Hello everyone !

How is your summer so far ? I hope you are not too lazy to craft ? Because I have a new project for you !

It’s an art journal spread created with several stencil and mediums. I started with the Siesta Key Colrations spray, followed by the Lattice stencil with brown ink. Then Messy bubbles stencil with Mermaid Sorbet.

I matched the bubbles stencil with a bubble stamp and green ink before working on the heart shape. For that, I played with stencils and mediums, then cut out several heart of different sizes that I glued on my pages.

I outlined the hearts with a black pen and drawn hooks and lines to go along with my journaling.

If you want more details on the mediums and stencils I used to created the paper for the hearts, you will find all the details in my video tutorial :

I hope you like this project. You can find more inspiration on the Art Anthology Pinterest page or on the AA Instagram profile.

Thank you for time, see you soon for another project !

Bright pink bookmarks

Hello AA lovers !

Ready for another mixed media project ? How about a quick and fun one ? It’s summer, we all have some books to catch up with, so what about bookmarks ?

Choose your favorite stamps, AA stencils and few AA mediums and have fun ! I choose the Patience  Colorations spray and the Azalea pink new Shine for the base of the bookmarks.

I then use the new Messy Bubbles stencil with Mardi Gras Velvet before adding white lines on the edges. After stamping the flowers, I colored them with Canary Yellow Shine, Sunrise Orange Shine and Kelly Green Shine before cutting them out.

Next and final step was to add a stamped quote.

If you want to see my creative process, you can watch the full tutorial right there :

Polarized effect layout

Hello crafters !

I want to show you something I create on the Art Anthology cruise during a crop session. It’s a layout, where I used a picture of my daughter with polarized sunglasses, and I tried to recreate the polarized effect with AA mediums…

I am pretty satisfied with the result ! Strangely, using the same technique, I got two different tones with metal and chipboard/paper…

On the layout and the white gesso covered embellishments, I applied first a coat of Sandcastle Colorations spray, then few coats of Kona Velvet medium for the base.

Then I applied Mermaid Sorbet in the center, followed by a layer of Vegas Gold Sorbet. See the difference between the metal (flower, doilies and leaves) and the chipboard (title) or paper flowers ?

I made a quick video to show you how to create this polarized effect :

Thank you for stopping by today. Have fun with this new technique and see you soon…
