Everyday Life Mixed Media Layout

Happy Wednesday all! We are halfway through the week. Who’s looking forward to the weekend? Raises hand. Until then, I would like to share this layout I created using the Border Stencil, Colorations Sprays (Ink Spot, Sedona) and the Silver Oxide Nickel Medium.

I snapped this photo a few months ago while I was at my little beach relaxing… They were soooo pretty. Their coloring was so gorgeous with a hint of turquoise blue… LOVE. Normally, when I scrapbook a layout, I do not plan anything… I find a photo that I love and just start working my magic!

I used Pink Paislee’s Indigo and Ivy collection to create this layout. Love the colors in this collection. It is a perfect fit for the photo.

Once the Nickel Medium was dry, I glued the buttons in the center of the flowers I Created with the border stencil to add dimension.

The Ink Spot and Sedona Colorations Sprays  look so pretty on this layout. The colors are so vibrant.

Fun In The Sun Mixed Media Layout

Hello everyone. I hope you’re having a fabulous week! Today I have a fun mixed media layout I created using a few Colorations Sprays (Patience, Salmon, Sky and Gilded Gold) and the Double Flower Stencil.

To begin, I applied clear gesso all over the white cardstock to prevent the cardstock from tearing. Once the gesso was completely dry, I placed the stencil down on the cardstock and then sprayed some Colorations Sprays here and there in the colors of Salmon, Patience, Sky and Gilded Gold. This color combination is so pretty!

I sprayed a scrap piece of cardstock using the Patience Colorations Spray to mat the photos. Then I punched a few wholes in a scrap piece of cardstock, sprayed it with the Sky Colorations Spray to create a few more layers… I love layering papers to create a fun background. Also, I rarely buy colored cardstock because I prefer using sprays to create the exact colors I want. Simple, but fun…

Love the black and white ribbon on this layout. It really makes the colors pop.

I added a few puffy stickers, gems and wood veneer embellishments along with some thread to make this layout more interested.

Products Used:

Colorations Sprays: Salmon, Sky, Patience and Gilded Gold

Stencil: Double Flower Stencil

Come see how this layout came together!

Hello everyone, Marleen here with a mini-book tutorial for you.

My inspiration came from everywhere!! Do you remember my earlier post about the lace book cover I made?? Well I promised you to show the inside later on. Guess what, the cover was too small for all those pages.
So I made a bigger cover now and finished the inside pages!

I used many many Art Anthology stencils you can find them all HERE.

Here you can see the video tutorial:

Hope it inspired you all 😉

Butterfly effect : an altered mask

Hello !

Who says because Mardi Gras is behind us, we cannot play with masks anymore ? Certainly not me, as I love creating new ones ! So here is my project for today :

I used 3 different material for the gears : paper, grungeboard and metal. After adhering these gears to the mask, I used the Mud Texture paste and a stamp to create more texture around the gears, before applying white gesso all over it.

Once dried, I used the Rust Texture set to highlight the gears and give them more dimensions. Then I added the Waimea Bay Colorations spray because 1. I really like this color, 2. I cannot let this mask white… Bonus : this color really enhance the rusty look.

The video tutorial is available on the Art Anthology YouTube channel, or you can just watch it here :

Thank you for your time and for stopping by on the blog. See you soon for another project…

Rusty leaves layout by Valerie

Hello there !

I have a Fall layout to show you today. I know, we are in February, but between Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year and soon to be Valentine’s day, I didn’t have the chance to scrap this Fall picture I like. So here it is, and thanks to that, I did use my rust texture set !

Beside the rust set, I also use the Diamond Grunge stencil with Leaf Sorbet on both sides of the paper. Bonus : the pattern matches the leaves !

To create this rusty effect, you will apply first the rust truffle, then touches of Terracotta, and a hint of Rust Amber for the finish.

On these two pictures, one leaf is painted, the other is a altered metal leaf…

Look how the Leaf Sorbet really pop and shine on this layout !

If you want to see how I make the leaves, you can watch the complete tutorial here or on the AA YouTube channel :

Mardi Gras mask by Valerie

Hello !

Valerie here today to show you a project for an Holiday you maybe are not familiar with, Mardi Gras ! Fat Tuesday is an old Middle Age tradition where peasants disguised themselves, feasted and burned a effigy of the king. It was something tolerate by the church to replace the older pagan custom for Spring. So, I will just stay with the disguise today with an altered mask !

Not far from where I live is the beautiful town of New Orleans, where Mardi Gras is a real deal Holiday ! The official colors for this are green and purple, so I choose the Mardi Gras Velvet and Emerald Dimensional Gemstones mediums for my project.

Between black gesso and those mediums, I  applied Dazzle Clear Coat to add some sparkle. Then I use Emerald Dimensional Gemstones medium and Mardi Gras Velvet medium.

And don’t forget a touch of gold with the Gold Metal Effect medium !

Can you see the little flakes of gold from the Dazzle ? And the Gold Metal Effect looks like gold powder !

I did a video tutorial for you to see the whole process. You can watch it here or on the Art Anthology YouTube channel :

Thanks you for stopping by today ! I hope you enjoy seeing this project as much as I enjoyed create it ! See you soon for another project…

Buzzing around Art Anthology journal page with Josefine

Hi everyone,

It’s Josefine and I’m back with a new art journal page for you. I love to try new things. This time it’s a new type of layout for me – leaving some white space (ooooph, I know right?). But I think that you have to challenge yourself every now and then, so I started with some texture for the background.

Then I covered the center of the page with Velvet and Sorbet paints and tried to blend these very well. I needed two layers of paint to get the effect I wanted. Even though I added some splatters here and there I kept the border of the page pretty white. Challenge accomplished 🙂

But see for yourself during my video tutorial:

What do you think? Do you like white spaces on an art journal page or do you prefer covering everything?

War and sakura : a mixed media layout

Hello !

Valerie today to present you a new project… I create a scrapbooking layout using two colorations sprays, some Mud texture paste with stencil and a Gemstone Effect medium…

So why War and Sakura ? Because the subject of the picture is an Onna-Bugeisha,  a rare female warrior from the high society of Japan. Despite her armor, she is extremely feminine. Did you notice the flowers in her hair ? That’s inspired me for the sakura flowers in my layout.

I started building the background with a resist paper and Colorations sprays in Sandcastle and Patience. I use the Blossom stencil with brown ink, then add some Mud paste over the Cracked stencil.

When the Mud was dried, I stamped cherry blossom in brown ink before painted them with Rhodolite Gemstone Dimensional medium. To complete the layout, I added cherry blossom cut out from a sheet of paper.

You can watch the complete process of this page on the Art Anthology YouTube channel or just here :

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you did find some inspiration for your next project !

See you soon for more…
