Scrappy Art Journal Page

Hey everyone!  Suzanne here today to share with you a scrappy art journal page featuring loads of Art Anthology yummies!  I had so much fun getting my hands dirty while creating this page.  I will show you how I achieved the background using an array of AA paints and mists!

I began the journal page by priming it with gesso.  Once dried, I randomly applied paints in teals, blue, and green; I did this very loosely-not really taking care of where I applied which color.  Once those colors dried, with a palette knife, I applied a layer of molding paste over the top-varying thickness which lends texture and still allows the colors to come through.

I continue the process of applying color and paste until i’m happy with the results; Minx Inks and several Colorations were thrown into the mix and worked beautifully for adding color depth.

While the paste was still wet, I painted a piece of regular graphing paper with the beautiful paint Velvet-Beyond the Reef.  I ripped the painted paper into strips and scrunched it into the paste creating a tiered layer effect.

I continued the process of bringing varying colors of the teals and blues back to the front and reapplying molding paste in different areas.  I added stamping as well!  I’m impatient, so I helped the drying process with a heat gun.

Once the page was assembled, I added some extra shimmer to the entire page by applying a coat of Splashed.  It added the perfect amount of bling to the finished page!  Here are some closeups!

Art Anthology Supplies:
Sorbet- “Cayman, Splashed”
Shine- “Teal, Kelly”
Velvet-“Beyond the Reef, Figi”
Minx Ink-“Panache, Stargazer”

Other Supplies:
wire, masking tape
mica flakes
graphing paper, sticker embellishments, stamps

Just playing – on an art journal page

I played, yes .. and I had fun..!!

Ellie Knol here today…

I decided to just go with the flow… and see where that would take me. I grabbed all sorts of colors that I thought would be nice together, greens, blues, oranges and a red, velvets, sorbets and a gemstones.

Here you can see the first 3 greens: Leaf Sorbet, Limited Velvet and Emerald Gemstones, scraping a tiny bit randomly over the page to make transparant layers.  Don’t try to cover the whole of it with each color, just here and there, and sometimes overlapping. After this step I’ve used lots more colors. For that, go see the Snapguide at the bottom of the post.

A close-up of the page during the process.

A close-up of some detail of the finished page.

Those eyes really are an eye-catcher on the page – LOVE it!

Would you like to know how I did this, check out the Snapguide:

Hope you’ve enjoyed this, and got inspired to get messy fingers too!

Upcycle a mirror frame !

Good day to you all from me, Ellie Knol !
.. glad you’re having a look here!
I have a fun project for you today!

When I found an old mirror frame in my (always growing) to-be-altered stash, I immediately knew I wanted to re-use it, with a purpose!

I chose for the lagoon color, as my daughter has a wall with this color in her new home.

Hope she will like it.

LOVE the cracking, and added color of the Lagoon Velvet Dimensional Paint.
Also.. the black underneath the cracks, has a beautiful shimmer to it from the Black Leather Jacket Sorbet Dimensional Paint.

Of course I’ve made a step-by-step with Snapguide for you! Go check it out!

Embrace Time by Toni

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing a layout featuring a photo I took at the beach as a “goodbye for now” to summer, as it is now fall. Time surely does fly and that’s why the title on my layout is perfect…. Embrace Time.

Using Art Anthology stencil along with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder gives some pretty bubbles to my backdrop for my photos. Along with Minx Shimmering Inks & Coloration Sprays to enhance the muted gray cardstock, these enhance the layout perfectly.

Stone Effects adds such pretty gritty texture to your pieces, and this was added to sections of my chipboard fishnet as well as my surfboards. And then to finish off the layout I added seed beads, seashells, rocks & assorted florals.  Hope you had a spectacular summer, as for me I am so over the heat spell we have been having and sooooo ready for fall… xoxo Toni

Create canvas

Hello, today I would like to show you my canvas CREATE.

I needed a little bit of fresh and juicy colors, so I created this canvas for myself with Limeaid and Mayan Gold. Of course with a touch of some purple – with Imperial and Wild Orchid.

And some close up’s:

The background was created with Squared Stencil, Limeaid and Mayan Gold. All painted on black gesso.

The chipboard from Melissa Frances was painted of white gesso, and some smooth touch of velvets.

I used some of Flea Market Finds from Melissa Frances.

Fresh Start Spring Canvas – By Toni

Hi everyone… Toni here with my first design team post and I’m so excited to share with you a project that I made using the gorgeous Art Anthology paints. It’s soon to be spring here in the U.S. and I love this time of year. The grass is greener, the flowers are blooming, birds chirping, everything seems to have a “Fresh Start”, and that’s what inspired my design team canvas.

Using a burlap canvas to provide me with some wonderful texture was my base as well as some grass wire that I purchased in the Easter section of my craft store.

So many different paints were utilized in different ways to achieve my look. Art Anthology’s products are so versatile. DSC07775

I hope you can take a moment to view my Snapguide tutorial on my step x step process…
Have a spectacular day, and Happy Spring !
