“Wonder” Stone Effects Art Journal Page

Hey everyone! Suzanne here to share a little art journal inspiration featuring Art Anthology’s Stone Effects! I could never find a way to put this picture of my daughter looking through a telescope onto a scrapbook page so I decided to do an art journal page instead!

I like to begin my journal page with a layer of modeling paste as opposed to gesso; it lends extra texture and weight to the page. After the paste dries, I add color using Velvet in “Beyond the Reef.”

I layer paint and modeling pasted until I’m satisfied with color and texture. Once the background is dry-I knew I wanted somewhat of a galaxy look, so I added Stone Effects in “Lava” and “Sandstone” and let dry. On top of the Stone Effects, I added Clear Coat in “Splashed” and “Dazzle” for added sparkle!

Next, I add Wax Paste in “German Silver” and “Bronze” which really adds to the look I’m trying to achieve! I add stamping with more color and modeling paste until I’m happy with the colors and texture. Here are some closeups of the finished page!

Art Anthology Supplies:
Velvet “Beyond the Reef”
Sorbet “Mermaid”
Clear Coat “Splashed and Dazzle”
Stone Effects “Lava and Sandstone”

Other Supplies:
art journal
modeling paste
chipboard embellishment, wire, fabric tulle, phrase stickers

Together Mixed Media Layout

Hello everyone! Do you ever feel giddy when completing a crafty project? I don’t usually get really excited about my work, but this layout has me feeling giddy and happy! This must be one of the longest projects I have ever created on a layout… I worked on this piece for a good two hours…but the end result is totally worth while. I just love it!

To begin, I mixed a little bit of the  Flamingo Sorbet Dimensional Paint with some of the Glass Sorbet Dimensional Paint to lighten up the color a bit. I wanted more of a bubblegum pick background. I used a silicone brush to scrape the paint across the cardstock so the paint was nice and even.

Once the pink was dry, I added a few layers of the Mermaid Sorbet Dimensional Paint across the top of the layout. I added about four layers of the Mermaid paint so the color would be as vibrant as possible. This took time because I had to make sure each layer was completely dry before applying the next layer, otherwise the paint would look muddy.

After the paint was completely dry, I decided to add some of the Vegas Gold Dimensional Paint. The colors look soooooo pretty together! I used the Metal Effects Dimensional Medium and Flity Stencil to create silver flowers at the bottom of the layout.

Since I only had clear jewels I used my markers to color them! They look perfect! Then I cut two hearts free-handed from cardstock and painted them to use as frames for the layout.

Since I didn’t have any embellishments that would go well with the colors with the exception of a few stickers I used stamps and markers to create the flowers! This took a lot of time, but I enjoyed the process!

Products Used:

Sorbet Dimensional Paint (GlassVegas GoldFlamingoMermaid)

Metal Effects Dimensional Medium

Flity Stencil

Coloration Spray: Raider

Stamps/Markers: Altenew

Embellishments: Citrus Twist/Pink Paislee, Heidi Swapp

What is your favorite thing about this layout? I love everything about it! Thanks for stopping by today! I hope I inspired you to try one of my techniques from this layout!

I WAS BORN TO BE WILD MIXED MEDIA LAYOUT

Good morning everyone! I have a fun mixed media layout to share with you! When I started this layout I really did not have anything in mind… so this took me longer than I thought it would. There are lots of layers and colors on this and the timing of it all was so worth it.

To begin, I used three Sorbet Dimensional Paint Mediums (Vegas Gold, Mermaid and Flamingo) to cover a sheet of white cardstock. I started with the Vegas Gold first… Then I applied the Mermaid and then the Flamingo.

Once the paint was completely dry I used the Stencil and white paint to create some circles in the background that did not do too well. I ended up smearing the white into the background to blend the colors a bit. Then I used the Metal Effects Dimension Medium (Silver) and the Lotus Stencil to create some fun textures for the background. Once the Metal Medium was completely dry, I used the Raider Coloration Spray and Lattice Stencil to create some dimonds in the background. Then I splashed some Raider Coloration Spray all over the layout to add some more black to help break up the colors a bit.

Once I was satisfied with the background, I used a few journaling cards, chipboards, jewels, stickers and puffy stickers to embellish the center of the layout.

Products Used:

Lotus Stencil

Lattice Stencil

Sorbet Dimensional Paint: Vegas Gold, Flamingo, Mermaid

Metal Effects Dimensional Medium: Silver

Coloration Spray: Raider

Dreamer of Dreams by Farrel Tailor

Happy New Year Everyone!!!! Farrel here to share with you all an altered frame I created using lots of Art Anthology mixed media goodies!!!

Dreamer of Dreams Frame by Farrel Tailor

I stared by painting my Dusty Attic chipboard frame with white gesso, then used Minx Shimmering Ink – Panche on the base and Sorbet Dimensional Paint – Vegas Gold on the top layer.

Next I tore a piece of paper from an old book and sprayed it with Colorations Sprays – Warm and Sandcastle. I then adhered this piece to the back of the chipboard frame.

I stamped a mixture of butterflies onto some white cardstock (prima stamps) and used Minx Shimmering Ink – Panche and Colorations sprays – Plush, Peacock Feathers and Siesta Keys to colour the butterflies.
