All We Need Is Love…. by Toni

Toni here and it was time to have fun in my art journal again. I love an art journal because it allows me to try out new techniques as well as putting my thoughts down visually with my art. There is something absolutely healing about it. So let’s get started. Decided to emboss some papers and add dry wall tape to provide my background textures, and then it was time to have fun with my Art Anthology pastes. For this I used the Patina Set as well as the Rust set.  For your background texture you can also use AA’s Mud texture paste and run it through a stencil. I just wanted to do something different this time. I next applied Rust Terracotta Velvet here and there mixed a bit of craft sand with it just because I wanted a bit more texture. Art Anthology products mix well with one another as well as other textures such as sand, pebbles, seed beads, gel mediums etc. My gears were die cut and then the Rust Truffle Paste as well as the Patina Teal and Seafoam Green were added. Hope this has given you some new ideas to use your products with. If you don’t have an art journal you can make one from an old book. Glue several pages together to increase the strength of your substrate. There are many tutorials on YOUTUBE that you can check out. Super easy don’t let it stop you from creating. xoxo Toni

Welcome Spring

Hello!  Are you having a fabulous spring?  I sure hope so.

Today, I altered a door handle!  I had to replace my front door handle so, what’s an artist to do but alter the old one.  😉

I used Kathy Adam‘s video from Art Anthology to make the door handle with the patina effect.

You can see how I created my door handle start  to finish:

Here are a few close-ups of the finished project.

Until next time…

How to Recreate Patina Video Tutorial

Hi friends!  Kathy here and I love patina, especially copper.  I love to recreate it in my art, so I thought I would share how I create it using Art Anthology mediums and sprays. In this video I will show you how to create oxidized silver, rusted iron and patina copper.  I mounted the samples onto small canvases and added Melissa Frances’ Flea Market Finds Appliques.
