Christmas Mixed-Media Tag

Hey everyone, Suzanne here today to share with you a fun Christmas mixed-media tag that I’ve created using an array of Art Anthology paints and mediums! I will show you how I made the dimensional trees!

When I began the base of the tag, I knew I wanted a “midnight” blue, therefore, I mixed two Velvets- “Beyond the Reef ” and Tuxedo. They blended and worked perfectly! Once the paint was dried, I stamped and heat embossed a text image and like that, the tag base was complete!

Using just a piece of scrap watercolor paper, I cut out triangles for Christmas trees. I mixed a small amount of Kelly Green Shine paint with artist modeling paste; the paste “dilutes” the color of the paint, so I added paint until I was happy with the color. Using a palette knife, I simply applied the mixture to the paper making “swooping” motions.

Before the mixture dried, I tucked in 3d-dimensional balls for ornaments.

Once the background of the tree was completely dry, I added color to the ornaments with a color from the Rust Texture Set, “Amber;” I also went back in with Kelly green to go over the tree once more to give it just a little more depth and color.

Next, I added snow paste to the tree and topped it off with a dusting of glitter! I let all of the medium dry and assembled the tag! Here are some closeups!

The star wreath is a paper die-cut that’s been painted using the Rust Texture Set!

Art Anthology Supplies:
Velvet: “Beyond the Reef, Tuxedo”
Rust Texture Set
Shine “Kelly Green”

Mixed media tag by Lisa

Hi friends!

Lisa today on the blog to share with you my last mixed media big tag, playing with AA Stencil, Colorations sprays and stone effects!

To start I prepped my tag by brushing white gesso and then I used Bone stone effect through Lotus stencil. I let it dry and I made some stamps with black archival ink.

With a brush and a little bit of water I used some Colorations sprays until I was happy with the blend of colours.

I used Tuxedo Velvet paint with a little bit of water to make splatters on the background.

Then I used also Lava Stone Effects and Bone Stone Effects on some paper leaves to give them more texture!

When I glued all my embellishments down on tag I made big splatters of colors using Cotton Velvet Paint.

Here some close ups photos:

I used these products on my project:

Cotton Velvet

Tuxedo Velvet

Patience Colorations Spray

Barbie Colorations Spray

Lotus Stencil 6×9

Bone Stone Effects

Lava Stone Effects

Happy Halloween Mixed-Media Tag

Hey everyone and Happy Halloween!  Suzanne here today to share with you a mixed-media Halloween tag!  I had loads of fun creating this tag using several of our Art Anthology paints and mediums!

I began with a manila tag that’s been primed using black gesso and covered with birch tree die-cuts.  At the bottom of the tag, I wet and bunched up plaster paper; I sped up drying with a heat gun then painted over the top with several tones of AA paints to give a muddy or dirty appearance.

While the tag dried, I freehand cut “headstones” and  applied a coat of Stone Effects in Sandstone (I used a heat tool to dry).  I love how it actually feels rough and gritty like actual stone!  I layered a couple of layers of Silver Metal Effects on top of the Sandstone (drying between layers).

As seen on the finished tag, the bats have been painted using AA Sorbet in “Black Leather Jacket.”  In addition, I applied a top coat of AA Sorbet “Glass” to add even more of a glitter effect!

The chipboard stars are painted with AA Gold Metal Effects, and the trees are coated with a layer of AA Sorbet in “Dazzle.”

The die-cut pumpkin is painted with AA Velvet “Tango” then heat embossed with thick embossing powder.

It’s amazing what you can create with paper and your favorite Art Anthology Paints.  This tag was super fun to create, and would be a great Halloween craft for the kiddos!

Art Anthology Supplies:
Velvet “Tango”
Stone Effects “Sandstone”
Metal Effects “Silver, Gold”
Sorbet “Glass, Dazzle, Black Leather Jacket”

Other Supplies:
manila tag
paper die-cuts
chipboard pieces
gesso

From The Heart a Mixed Media Tag by Lisa

Hi friends!

Lisa today on the blog and I’d love to share with you this mixed media tag playing with a lot of Art Anthology products!

To start I glued some pieces of tissue paper and old book pages on my tag with gel medium.

Then I brushed white gesso

I chose AA Stencil ” Messy Bubbles” and I made some stencils with modelling white paste.

Then I made some stamps with Archival black ink and I colored the background with Patience and Plush Colorations Sprays, using a round brush and water to give a watercolor effect.

After that I took Cotton Velvet Dimensional Paint and I made some splatters of colour with a fan brush.

I stamped some butterflies on a piece of watercolor paper and I colored them with Siesta Colorations Spray. Then I cutted them and I used as embellishments on my tag

I made some splatters again this time with Fiji Velvet Dimensional Paint to give more contrast on the background

I finished my tag adding some diecuts, stickers and sequins. On the black heart I brushed a little of Dazzle Sorbet Paint…..I love its glitter effect!

Now some close ups photos

I used these AA products:

Patience Colorations Spray

Plush Colorations Spray

Siesta Key Colorations Spray

Messy Bubbles Stencil

Cotton Velvet

Fiji Velvet

Dazzle Clear Coat

That’s all for today!

Mixed Media Wooden Tag by Toni

Hi everyone, Toni here with a heartfelt project, dedicated to a very dear friend that I lost almost 2 years ago. The image on the front of this tag was actually the last card I received from her for my birthday. I thought this would be a nice way to keep this treasure. This wooden tag was primed first with white gesso and then collaged with book pages and scrapbook paper. Then I applied black modeling paste through one of Art Anthology’s NEW stencils Multi Damask. Then with the help from Art Anthology’s Rust and Patina Texture Set I was able to alter the heart and edges of the tag. Colorations Sprays were used to dye the seam binding at the top of the tag. For your pleasure I have included a process video and there is also a list of supplies used below. Wishing you a bright and peaceful day !

Supplies Used:

Colorations; Warm, Peacock Feathers, Siesta Key

Rust Texture Set

Patina Texture Set

Stencil-Multi Damask

For your pleasure here is a video of my creative process… xoxo Toni

Moodboard Inspiration with Toni

Hi everyone, have you seen our moodboard this month…. Wow, such vibrant inspiration !

I knew right away this was going to be a “Happy project” …. these colors are bursting with inspiration.

I decided to use our new Shine paints. Beautiful high gloss that hold perfect dimension. I first created gelli prints with the following colors: Canary, Kelly and Ruby. So sorry I forgot to photograph the prints after made. The dragonfly was then cut out from the print that had alot of red and the tag itself I used the print that was mostly greens and yellows. I cut out 3 dragonflies so that I could layer them to have multiple wings. These colors compliment each other so well and the Shine paints are so vivid and beautiful to work with. Ideology was added to the tag and white gesso was painted over to fill in the letters. Wishing you a month filled with creativity, create with us here at Art Anthology and be inspired by our mood board this month. Post your creations are our Facebook page for others to enjoy and to network your art work with other creatives.
