Joyful Mixed Media Layout

Good morning everybody! Nicole here with a colorful mixed media layout I created using a few Minx-Shimmering Inks by Art Anthology. This was my first time really playing with more than one color and I had so much fun. These shimmering inks are sooooo vibrant and pretty. So glad I bought them all because I see a new addiction happening… Lots of inky goodness.

To begin, I coated white cardstock using clear gesso. Once the gesso was completely dry, I used a scrap piece of plastic from packaging to smear the shimmering inks all over the cardstock. I used a heat gun in between colors so the colors would not bleed.

Once I was satisfied with the background, I added lots of fun embellishments.

Ombre Watercolor Background Featuring Colorations!

Hey everyone!  Suzanne here today to share with you a super quick and easy scrapbook layout featuring an ombre background that I’ve created using just one Colorations Spray!   It doesn’t take a ton of supplies to create “drama” and impact on a page.

I began the layout with a piece of watecolor paper, a paintbrush,  a small amount of water, and Colorations Spray in Barbie.  I wanted to apply color-beginning with the lightest-in an ombre pattern.  I spritzed a non-stick mat with Barbie Colorations Spray, wet a paintbrush, and simply dipped the wet brush into the spray.

I didn’t pay much attention to precision only to apply the colors in a graduated fashion; the more water I applied-the lighter the color.  I made sure to blend as I go darker in color.  Once I’m happy with the color, I take the wet paint brush and create splatters.  I let the background dry and that’s it!!

Here are some close-ups.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope that I have inspired you to get into your crafty space and get some paint on your hands!  If you need more inspiration, make sure you are following us on Pinterest and don’t forget to join our Facebook group Art Anthology Adventures in Art!

Mixed media layout with Colorations Sprays by Lisa

Hi friends!

Lisa here today to share with you my last DT project for this month. This time I made a mixed media layout with some photos of my family that I particularly love… do you like to make layouts? I like it very much!

I started my layout with applying a coat of clear gesso to seal the patterned paper. I then used my finger to rub a little bit of white gesso. I made some stamps with Archival black ink and then I used modelling paste with Art Anthology Messy Bubbles stencil to create some texture

I used Colorations Sprays (Siesta Key, Barbie and Plush) to make my watercolor background. To cover the dreamcatcher chipboard I brushed Stone Effect color Bone, I love its texture!

I added my black and white photos with chipboards, embellishments and flowers

As final touch I made some splatters with Cotton Velvet with a bit of water

You can follow my step by step tutorial here

Supplies used:

Colorations Barbie, Plush and Siesta Key

Stone Effects Bone

Stencil Messy Bubbles

Cotton Velvet
