Embrace Time by Toni

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing a layout featuring a photo I took at the beach as a “goodbye for now” to summer, as it is now fall. Time surely does fly and that’s why the title on my layout is perfect…. Embrace Time.

Using Art Anthology stencil along with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder gives some pretty bubbles to my backdrop for my photos. Along with Minx Shimmering Inks & Coloration Sprays to enhance the muted gray cardstock, these enhance the layout perfectly.

Stone Effects adds such pretty gritty texture to your pieces, and this was added to sections of my chipboard fishnet as well as my surfboards. And then to finish off the layout I added seed beads, seashells, rocks & assorted florals.  Hope you had a spectacular summer, as for me I am so over the heat spell we have been having and sooooo ready for fall… xoxo Toni

Minx and Masks: Creating Backgrounds

Hi creative peeps! Kathy here today to show you a technique that I learned from an online class, Inspiration Wednesday, with Donna Downey.  In the class, she used watercolors with masks. I thought the technique would be perfect for using Minx Shimmering Inks and some of the cool masks available from Art Anthology.

Mixed Media Cards2

I used 11″ x 14″ sturdy mixed media paper to create a background, then cut it into cards and used Melissa Frances wood veneer and resin embellishments to finish them off.  Many of us don’t send cards through the mail anymore, but I’ve found that people still really love and appreciate receiving them. And it is a great way to share your art with loved ones and friends.

Journey Canvas using Minx Inks

Good morning everyone! I deviated somewhat from my normal colors and went with a grungier look for this canvas. I used a combination of Minx inks, Colorations, Velvets, and Sorbet. Journey Everything is layered and then layered some more. The key is making sure everything is good and dry between applications of paint. To see step-by-step how I created this canvas, please see my Snapguide: Check out How to Create a Colorful Mixed Media Canvas Using Minx by Art Anthology on Snapguide. Here are a few closeups. I tried to capture how Minx gave the canvas a nice shimmer. 2015-12-29 10.47.38 2015-12-29 10.47.30 2015-12-29 10.47.23 2015-12-29 10.47.18 Journey Close Thank you for looking. Marbling with Minx

AA Happy New Year1

Kathy here today to share a project using the new Minx Shimmering Inks that will be available at CHA in January.  Minx are dye-based, water soluble, shimmering inks that are packaged in a 1 ounce dropper bottle, and come in 11 colors plus white.  They are non-toxic and acid free.  They also have a slower drying time so you can manipulate them longer to create interesting results.  When I first saw the Minx bottles I immediately thought of the marbling technique using shaving cream.  I’ve seen it done but never tried it.
