Skull candy by Valerie

Hello there !

I want to give to some ideas for Halloween or Day of the Dead today. Its’ not too early considering you could already find Christmas decorations in stores…

I saw this plaster skull few weeks ago and knew I had to paint it with AA mediums ! Skull candy are usually more colorful, but black and gold were a perfect fit for a classy and frightful look… So I started with this :

Black gesso for the base, Dazzle Clear Coat and Gold Metal Effect mediums for the painting part. I added metal beads and charms, few more painting, et voila !

Black gesso gave a matt finish to the skull. So I add the Dazzle for the glossy and sparkly look of this clear coat.

Depending on the thickness of your coat of paint, the Gold Metal Effect will have a solid finish or be just a touch. Here you can see the solid look :

And on the lacy flower is just an highlight in the center :

I made a video tutorial for you, but be indulgent as I am still in a temporary appartment in Houston and had to let my daughter shoot the video in my kitchen with my phone…

Thank you for reading this post, don’t forget to visit our other socials for more inspiration ! And see you soon…

Wooden wall hanger

Wooden wall hanger with Josefine

Hi and welcome back!

Today I’m sharing a small project with you using a piece of birch wood and Art Anthology paints to create a wall hanger. Even though it’s a small piece of art, I had a lot of fun creating it!

I prepared a video tutorial for you, showing you how I created the image on the birch wood:

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial ūüôā

Do you ever paint on wood? I love how the Art Anthology paints turn out! They have a very distinct sheen to them. It’s hard to explain, but I encourage you to give it a try and see for yourself ūüôā

Here are the supplies I used:

Wood Canvas with 3D Bird Nest

Hi everyone ūüôā

today I’m sharing a 3D canvas with you. I found this bird in the home decor section and just had to pair it with Art Anthology paints, sprays and inks. It is incredible that you can use the same paint as the base, for dimension and as finishing touches. It always surprises me how they turn out and that it just works.

For this canvas I decided to pick a green color base. This way the wood canvas is the tree and the green color is representing the leaves (or similar :P).

So I started with prepping the surface with different shades of green. Then I adhered the nest and added several gold shimmer effects. But see for yourself:

What do you think? Did the bird get a nice and shiny home or should she move? ūüėČ

For this project I used:

Inspire the Arts – Altered Paintbrush

Hello creative gang,¬†happy to back¬†for another¬†DT post. For today’s project¬†I¬†created¬†a “grungy rainbow” altered paintbrush using¬†Velvet dimensional paints and the Metal Effects – copper and gold. These are¬†so thick and dimensional, you can literally hold¬†an open bottle upside down and nothing will come out, a little¬†goes a very long way. When¬†lightly applied they are somewhat¬†transparent,¬†which easily¬†allows you¬†to¬†slowly build and control the amount of¬†color needed, especially¬†when¬†using a variety of colors on a small project, like I did here.

I love learning new products as it is always a fun way for me to expand my mind and hopefully find new ways to be creative. Glad you could stop by, be sure to check out the video tutorial posted below.

Live Life Tag Board

Hi everyone, happy to be back with another DT post .¬†For this project I used some of the Art Anthology¬†dimensional paints… Metal Effects, Velvet’s and Sorbet. These paints are quite different than most paints I’ve used, they are translucent yet dimensional, so the heavier the¬†application, the more dimensional and opaque they become. The Velvet’s have a beautiful¬†matt, smooth finish, the Sorbet’s have high gloss and a tinge of glitter, I used the combination of both for the leaves.

As for the Metal Effects, I love using them over black gesso by applying the copper first and highlighting with the gold,¬†which makes the copper look more like¬†a rusty background…love this technique, will definitely be using it on another project. On this project I also used it on the face mold to give it an aged, distressed look, hard to see the end result in the video, but you can see it in the close up¬†photo.

Hope you’re feeling inspired!

Enjoy

The making of … a booklet

Goodmorning, Ellie Knol here…
gorgeous weather in Holland at the moment..

Today I’d like to share the making of a booklet,
the covers particularly…
…using Colorations spray, Copper Stone Effects and Tuxedo Velvet paint…..

..although I intended to make 4 cards with embossing in combination with the beautiful sprays and paints from Art Anthology.

****
The very early stage of the background – heat embossed in clear on a with-clocks-embossed watercolor paper.

I used corrugated cardboard for the front and back cover. I ended up adhering the backgrounds to these.
I

The Copper Metal Effects adds to the stenciled words (Tick Tock stencil).

Time to assemble…

….the finished project. The inside pages have been cut to size from a not-used-but-second-hand photo album…

It will make for a nice and personal gift..
..to be used as a booklet for photographs, art journaling or maybe just to make some notes.

Did not know I was going to end up with this ūüôā
LOVE it…

Mechanical Love by Toni

Hi everyone, hope you are having a creative month and enjoying our wonderful mood board provided for inspiration.

My layout is featuring my daddy that was taken probably about 60 years ago. He was a metal pourer and made machine parts. Hard and dangerous work, but he loved it. One of my most favorite thing about layouts is layering and dimension and this layout has that and more.

Art Anthology paints mixed with craft sand that I purchased at the $1.00 store gives an great way to create your own rusty wonderfulness.

The Metal Effects Sillver stippled on the chipboard gave it a metal-like appearance that peeps through the rusty goodness.

This color¬†palette is one of my fav’s and I enjoyed working with my fathers’ photo so much. I hope this has inspired you to go get yourself some craft sand and mix away with your paints. I really think this will work well in our Art Anthology Stencils as well …… hummm ideas for my next project perhaps…..

Have a spectacular week and for your pleasure check out my Snapguide Tutorial for a step x step process for my layout.

Fairy door scene tutorial

Hello my dear crafty friends !

Irit is here and I welcome to my second December post for Art Anthology.

irit_sig

This time I made a totally different project: altered Fairy door  chipboard set from Tando Creative.

img_7341

I used chipboards and Art Anthology products only with the small add- on of Makin’s Clay molded fairies added to the finished project.

As always I made a small tutorial for you. I even made my own paint tool from the old (or new) tooth brush.

img_7340

Each chipboard piece was painted in the different way to get a different effect. There are stone effect, wood effect, painted ¬†leaves and a mushroom, ” metal” hinges and pastel fairies. And each effect was made just with Art Anthology paints and sprays.

Here is a piece of the project with ” metal” hinges, painted fairy, 3d mushroom and some leaves. You can also see the wooden door and it really looks like an old, peeled wood.

img_7339

Here is another look at the fairy, leaves, wood and stone effect that was made with paints only.

It was so much fun to make this project and to see the final result!

And as always- here is a full supply list :

Thanks for visiting own blog and I really hope that you like my  Fairy project.
