Land Of The Free Journal Page by Toni

Hi everyone, it’s a new month and a new mood board here at Art Anthology and my design team inspiration was from the beautiful blues, reds and grays.

I created a two page journal layout. Sit back as I walk you through this fun process. Using painters tape, create strips across your pages. Using the Twilight stencil and Mud paste I added my stars to the corner of my journal page. Take your spatula and in waves add your texture paste to the uncovered portion of the strips. This will give the appearance of movement in your flag.  Allow your paste to dry completely.  I knew sprayng my strips would be easier but I didn’t have a vivid red so I took the Shine in Ruby and added it to a spray bottle with a little water and shook real good and sprayed away. Gorgeous color and coverage. Now I sprayed my stars with Indigo Colorations Spray.  Heat set all your sprays. Remove your painters tape and reveal your white strips. Taking a fine point Sharpie I wrote the lyrics to Oh Beautiful. Last but not least I used the Metal Effects in Silver with my finger and ran it over all the high parts of the Mud paste on the stars and strips. Then added my title “Land Of the Free Home of the Brave” . Hoping you are inspired by my pages and don’t forget to play along with us and create using our mood board and post it to our Facebook HERE.

Here is a list of the products used for my journal pages.

Stencils- Twilight

Shine- Ruby

Colorations- Indigo

Altered Steampunk Lamp by Toni

Hi crafty peeps, it’s Toni here with a lamp I altered for my craftroom. I purchased this simple lamp at a decor store for $25.00.

I really liked the bones of it but I knew it needed to be spruced up.  I also got these water goggles at the Dollar store and knew they would were intended for this project.

I had a difficult time getting good photos of this project so I hope you bear with me.

I applied all my old metal pieces that I have collected over the years from garage sales and junk stores, as well as some chipboard pieces, chain, buttons, and plumbers pipes from the hardware store. The goggles were altered with hot glue, Art Anthology’s paint as well as alcohol inks. Art Anthology’s Texture Paste Set in Rust along with Mud Texture Paste helped me accomplish this rusty piece and provided some wonderful textures. Here is a photo out in the light, hopefully you can get a different look at this piece.

And now I have a new lamp for my craftroom. I hope you have been inspired and you have enjoyed my new project. For your pleasure below is a Snapguide tutorial. xoxo Toni

Altered Box For Home Decor by Toni

Toni here today to share with you an altered project I created to hold my essential oils I use to diffuse at home.Started with this paper mache box I purchased awhile back at Michaels. Starting off with AA’s Mud Paste run through a couple of a gorgeous stencils (listed below) for texture to the box. Then the addition of a few metal pieces. Then I took some white mulberry flowers and painted them in the colors above and dipped them in melted UTEE to give them a porcelain effect. Before adhering to the box I spritzed Colorations Sedona & Granny Smith on the top for shadows and a pretty shimmer.

Pictured above the pretty texture provided by the stencils. Florals were added to the top and my title to the front of the box and now my essential oils have a new home. Hope this has provided some inspiration to decorate your containers for your home. Put that special “YOU” touch on your items.

Below is a list of AA products used and also a Snapguide tutorial for your pleasure….. Peace

Butterfly effect : an altered mask

Hello !

Who says because Mardi Gras is behind us, we cannot play with masks anymore ? Certainly not me, as I love creating new ones ! So here is my project for today :

I used 3 different material for the gears : paper, grungeboard and metal. After adhering these gears to the mask, I used the Mud Texture paste and a stamp to create more texture around the gears, before applying white gesso all over it.

Once dried, I used the Rust Texture set to highlight the gears and give them more dimensions. Then I added the Waimea Bay Colorations spray because 1. I really like this color, 2. I cannot let this mask white… Bonus : this color really enhance the rusty look.

The video tutorial is available on the Art Anthology YouTube channel, or you can just watch it here :

Thank you for your time and for stopping by on the blog. See you soon for another project…

Industrial cards with the Oxidized Silver Texture set

Hello there !

Valerie today, with a project a little bit different than the ones I’m use to… But you need to get out of your comfort zone something, right… So here I am, with a project with no bright color !

What I used for these two cards were the Oxidized silver Texture set , the Ringlets stencil, Mud texture paste and few drops of Sterling Fairy Dust (ok, white paper too).

So I started by applying Mud paste over the stencil. Once dried, I applied the ash stone texture all over it.

Then Grey matte finish and Silver Metallic on the stencil pattern. See how it looks like aged silver ?

The quote were stamped on white circle covered with the Silver Metallic medium. Used alone, it has a beautiful shiny metal finish.

Few drops of Sterling Fairy dust to complete the oxide look and I was done for my background.

If you want to know more about the process of these cards, a complete video tutorial is available for you to watch here or on the Art Anthology YouTube channel :

Thank you for stopping by the blog today, I hope to see you soon for another project (probably with more colors this time !).

Rusty leaves layout by Valerie

Hello there !

I have a Fall layout to show you today. I know, we are in February, but between Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year and soon to be Valentine’s day, I didn’t have the chance to scrap this Fall picture I like. So here it is, and thanks to that, I did use my rust texture set !

Beside the rust set, I also use the Diamond Grunge stencil with Leaf Sorbet on both sides of the paper. Bonus : the pattern matches the leaves !

To create this rusty effect, you will apply first the rust truffle, then touches of Terracotta, and a hint of Rust Amber for the finish.

On these two pictures, one leaf is painted, the other is a altered metal leaf…

Look how the Leaf Sorbet really pop and shine on this layout !

If you want to see how I make the leaves, you can watch the complete tutorial here or on the AA YouTube channel :

Stay tune for more projects from the DT, and see you soon…

Mardi Gras mask by Valerie

Hello !

Valerie here today to show you a project for an Holiday you maybe are not familiar with, Mardi Gras ! Fat Tuesday is an old Middle Age tradition where peasants disguised themselves, feasted and burned a effigy of the king. It was something tolerate by the church to replace the older pagan custom for Spring. So, I will just stay with the disguise today with an altered mask !

Not far from where I live is the beautiful town of New Orleans, where Mardi Gras is a real deal Holiday ! The official colors for this are green and purple, so I choose the Mardi Gras Velvet and Emerald Dimensional Gemstones mediums for my project.

Between black gesso and those mediums, I  applied Dazzle Clear Coat to add some sparkle. Then I use Emerald Dimensional Gemstones medium and Mardi Gras Velvet medium.

And don’t forget a touch of gold with the Gold Metal Effect medium !

Can you see the little flakes of gold from the Dazzle ? And the Gold Metal Effect looks like gold powder !

I did a video tutorial for you to see the whole process. You can watch it here or on the Art Anthology YouTube channel :

Thanks you for stopping by today ! I hope you enjoy seeing this project as much as I enjoyed create it ! See you soon for another project…

Never change art journal page with Josefine

Hi Art Anthology fans 🙂

I was in a play mood and wanted to try what happens when you mix crackle paint with Colorations Sprays. I had a blast mixing colors and watching them disapear in the cracks and creating fun patterns.

I thought that it ended up looking like dragon scales, so I grabbed one of my dragon stamps and designed the layout for the page. You can watch the entire process here:

These are the Colorations sprays and Velvet and Sorbet paints I’ve used:

Unfortunately, that was my last post for the Art Anthology design team. Feel free to follow me on my blog, if you want to see more of my creations 🙂

Thanks so much to all of you for watching my videos and reading my posts. I had a blast with this team and will definitely continue drooling over all their amazing projects
