Intuitive Painting Art Anthology Style

Hi crafty friends! Kathy here today with a video showing how I created a canvas using the intuitive painting process. Recently I shared in an online course, Wanderlust, where Flora Bowley demonstrated her intuitive painting technique. Her fun and forgiving approach to painting is based on the notion that “You don’t begin with a preconceived painting in mind; you allow the painting to unfold.”  This is a transformational approach that connects mind + spirit, and allows expressive paintings to emerge naturally.

I really love the results of this canvas and the process of making it. I hope that the photos pick up the shimmer that resulted from using the Gemstone mediums.  If you want intense shimmer, you must get Gemstones!

Canvas “Meadow” by Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with my newest project created with Art Anthology goodies. I have a lot of beautiful Sorbet and Velvet paints and I thought: if they are paints why not to paint with them? They are thick, have different finish but why not to give it a try? Sorbets and Velvets are great for adding some texture to the projects so I also wanted to create a painting with a little texture. So today I want to show You a painting. Or something like that because I am not a painter at all.

I decided to paint sime flowers, kind of a meadow. They are quite easy to sketch and You can create Your own shapes and compositions. I didn’t want to create a realistic painting.

First step was to sketch my flowers. After that there were only pure joy of adding colors.

I used Sorbet, Velvets and Gemstones. They all have different finish which gave some nice look to my canvas. Some parts of flowers are matte and some are glossy.

Thing You have to remember If You want to create Your own painting with Sorbets and Velvets is to add another layers on dry paint. If You won’t dry it they will mix together creating not so pretty shades.

When my painting was done I decided I need some black lines around my flowers. I took a pen nib and black ink and draw the lines.

If You are curious how my creative process looked like, I have a video for You 🙂

Thank You for stopping by.

A Mini Canvas That Pops!

Hi crafty friends! Kathy here to share a small canvas I created using contrasting colors; a bright yellow image set against a rich blue background. I love bright colors and using contrasting colors together really adds that “pop” that I love. Explore Canvas3

You can see how I created my canvas here:

For a different color scheme, try using shades of purple with yellows and oranges, or shades of red and pink with greens.

Thanks for visiting the blog today! Now go make some art that pops!

A Pink Bra and Some Soda Cans

Hello, Art Anthology friends!  Kathy Adams here today to share my bra project to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Kathy Adams Bra Project

I have to be honest, this project had me stumped!!  When I found a coral bra at T. J. Maxx for $5.00, I knew I wanted to use flowers and butterflies, and make a pretty bra as oppose to something more serious. I also had the large pink and silver pendant that I though I could use in the center of the bra.  But how will I make this different than all the other “Bras for a Cause” pretty bra projects?  To put my own twist on it, I decided to use aluminum cans and some dies I already had to make my own flowers and butterflies, and paint them with Art Anthology Gemstones and Colorations Sprays.  Aluminum cans are easily cut up with a heavy-duty scissors and are perfect for die-cuting.  I have used both larger “Bigz” Sizzix dies, and even smaller Spellbinders dies to cut the aluminum material, and embossing them is even better!

Check out How to Make Flowers and Butterflies From Aluminum Cans by Art Anthology on Snapguide.

I love the way the embossed aluminum allows the pigments to pool around the nooks and crannies.  Sanding the raised areas after everything is dry also brings out the patterns.  The aluminum was a perfect complement to the silver pendant and chain.

So, if you haven’t done this already, how about calling your doctor and scheduling your mammogram?  Then go make something with Art Anthology paints and sprays!

Fun With Tags!

Hi Art Anthology friends!  Kathy here today to have some creative fun using tags that I started in my June 24 post when I made flowers using Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies.  I had Colorations spray left on my craft mat and didn’t want to waste it so I swiped some tags through it.  I love the watercolor effect that happens when using this technique.  I want to make a few blue so I’ll review this technique in the Snapquide.  And since this month we are featuring quotes, I included one on each tag. AATags6-28

I felt compelled to use some supplies that I haven’t used for a while. So I gathered some fun rubber stamps……….

And took out my drawer full of hand painted scraps………

DSCN7724

And how long has it been since you’ve used these?

DSCN7729

I’ll bet you are hoarding a bunch like I am. Well, get them out and use them in a project today!!!

So, lets get to work! I mean play!!

Here are my finished tags.

So after completing all these tags, I learned a few things.  First, I will never enjoy making jewelry. I must have bad small motor skills because I had such a hard time attaching the jump rings to the eyelets and closing them back up! Second, I really enjoyed using the small 3″ x 5″ Gelli Arts plate to “stamp” the background onto the last two.  I will be doing that again! Third, tags are such fun little pieces of art and I will continue to create with them.

I would love to hear from you and find out which tag you like the best?
