One of a Kind Mixed Media Tag by Farrel Tailor

Hi there Art Anthology Fans!! Farrel here to share with you all a mixed media tag I created using lots of AA products. There is also a process video at the end of the blog so feel free to watch me in action.

  1. I started my tag by using Stone Effects – Bone with Art Nuveau stencil. After drying with my heat tool, I then added white gesso and also applied some crackled paste.

2. Once dry and all my elements on the tag have been adhered and covered with white gesso, I then applied Colorations Color Spray – Siesta Key. Next I used Minx Shimmering Ink – Panache on the background and used a little bit of water to help the ink spread around the tag.

3.  After the ink has dried, I then spray Colorations Color Spray Peacock Feathers to create some depth to the tag. To break up some of the blue on the tag, I then used Rust Texture Set on some of the elements on the tag.

4. After adhering my chipboard butterfly, I then added Minx Shimmering Ink – Decadent. Then to finish off the tag, I added the gold paste from Rust Texture Set to highlight.

 AA products products used:

Stencil – Art Nuveau

Colorations  – Siesta Key, Peacock Feathers

Stone Effects – Bone

Minx Shimmering Inks – Panache, Decadent

Texture Set – Rust

Altered Skull Drinking Cup by Farrel Tailor

Happy Hauntings Everyone!!! I am back with another Halloween themed project and this time I decided to alter a plastic skull head cup I found at Kmart here in Australia.

  1. I started by painting my cup and chipboard pieces with black gesso. I then used modeling paste and AA’s Cracked stencil to create the illusion of veins.

2. Once dry, I then applied Bone Stone Effects with my palette knife randomly all over the cup and dried with my heat tool.

3. I then adhered my chipboard pieces and painted again with black chipboard. Once it was dry, I then added Black Leather Jacket Sorbet Dimensional Paint all over and dried again.

4. Next I used Tango and Boysenberry Velvet Dimensional Paint to colour the chipboard spider and flourish.

5. I then used a mousse to colour the all over the black gesso area.

6. To finish off the cup I then added Rust Texture Set  and some small plastic spiders.

Art Anthology products Used

Velvet – Tango and Boysenberry

Texture Effect – Rust Texture Set

Stone Effects –  Bone

Sorbet – Black Leather Jacket

Stencil – Cracked

Mixed media reverse canvas

Hi friends!

Lisa today with you to share my last mixed media project! I love playing with gesso, stencils and painting and this time I have a reverse canvas for you!

To start I brushed several coats of white gesso on the reverse side of a canvas. After that I glued some pieces of tissue paper with a gel medium.

Then I chose Lotus Stencil to make some design with Stone Effects Bone, and I brushed also this paint here and there to give more texture.

I made some stamps with black archival ink, and then I started coloring the background with a light blend of Siesta Colorations spray first, to follow with Peacock Feathers.

While it was drying I colored a chipboard with the color Velvet Fiji and later I got dirty it with a little bit of white gesso.

So I glued all my embellishments with tacky glue and I made big splatters with Velvet Cotton color.

Some close ups photos:

I used these AA products:

Lotus Stencil 6×9

Bone Stone Effects

Siesta Key Colorations Spray

Peacock Feathers Colorations Spray

Fiji Velvet

Cotton Velvet

That’s all for today!
