Enjoy the Journey – A Journal Page

Hello, today I am sharing with you a journal page made  with Art Anthology products. I love art journaling; I find it freeing, relaxing and rejuvenating all in one. Butterflies are one of my favorite subjects in my journal pages as they too are freeing. I chose the quote “Enjoy the Journey” for this page. It applies to my life right now, ups and downs and windy roads. Of course the butterflies represent my journey.

I have a full tutorial below showing how  I made this page step by step.
The Art Anthology products I used are:
Messy Bubbles Stencil 6 x 9
Colorations Spray –  Granny Smith
Colorations Spray – Glorious
Gold Metal Effects

Other products used:
texture paste
matte medium
collage paper
gesso
embellishments
double sided tape
paper towel

  1. Begin by adding texture paste through the Messy Bubbles Stencil. Allow to dry thoroughly.

2) Using matte medium, stick down the collage elements and allow to dry.

3) Now go over the page with gesso. You can wipe back areas that you want the collage elements to show.

4) Spray the page with Colorations Granny Smith and Glorious sprays. Use a paper towel to dab off any excess. Allow to dry.

5) Using a palette knife, spread on Metal Effects Gold Dimensional Medium.

6) Dilute some gesso and add white splatters to the page.

7) Finally, decide where you want to place your embellishments and use double sided tape to stick them on.

I do hope I have inspired you to make your own masterpiece. For more ideas visit us on Pinterest and also join our Facebook group, Art Anthology Adventures in Art!

Scrappy Art Journal Page

Hey everyone!  Suzanne here today to share with you a scrappy art journal page featuring loads of Art Anthology yummies!  I had so much fun getting my hands dirty while creating this page.  I will show you how I achieved the background using an array of AA paints and mists!

I began the journal page by priming it with gesso.  Once dried, I randomly applied paints in teals, blue, and green; I did this very loosely-not really taking care of where I applied which color.  Once those colors dried, with a palette knife, I applied a layer of molding paste over the top-varying thickness which lends texture and still allows the colors to come through.

I continue the process of applying color and paste until i’m happy with the results; Minx Inks and several Colorations were thrown into the mix and worked beautifully for adding color depth.

While the paste was still wet, I painted a piece of regular graphing paper with the beautiful paint Velvet-Beyond the Reef.  I ripped the painted paper into strips and scrunched it into the paste creating a tiered layer effect.

I continued the process of bringing varying colors of the teals and blues back to the front and reapplying molding paste in different areas.  I added stamping as well!  I’m impatient, so I helped the drying process with a heat gun.

Once the page was assembled, I added some extra shimmer to the entire page by applying a coat of Splashed.  It added the perfect amount of bling to the finished page!  Here are some closeups!

Art Anthology Supplies:
Sorbet- “Cayman, Splashed”
Shine- “Teal, Kelly”
Velvet-“Beyond the Reef, Figi”
Minx Ink-“Panache, Stargazer”
Colorations-“Sky, Waimea Bay, Siesta Key”

Other Supplies:
gesso
wire, masking tape
mica flakes
graphing paper, sticker embellishments, stamps

Art Journal Pages by Lisa

Hi friends! Lisa here today to show you my last art journal pages, made with beautiful Velvet paints & Stencil by Art Anthology!

To start I brushed my pages with white gesso. Then I cutted some pieces of tissue paper, old book pages, scrapbook papers and washi taped and glued on the background with gel medium to make a collage

After with a spatula I applied white gesso to mix the background

I made some stamps with archival inks black and pink. Even if I had to repeat some of them after the coloring process I like to see some signs under the colors, it makes texture!

I chose Velvet Dimensional Paints (Boysenberry, Beyond the Reef and Cotton) and Sorbet Dimensional Paint Flamingo. I applied the colors directly with my fingers, they are so creamy and delicious!

After I applied the Cotton velvet paint to blend the background and to make some stencil. I used 6×9 Lotus from Art Anthology

I still made some stamps and I used a black watercolor pencil to make some marks. I used Cotton paint to make some splatters and I let it dry.

Finally I prepared some embellishments and I glued on my pages. Here some close up photos of my project

I used these Art Anthology products on my project:

Cotton Velvet

Boysenberry Velvet

Beyond the Reef Velvet

Flamingo Sorbet

Lotus Stencil 6×9

Create Art Journal Page by Farrel Tailor

Hi there Art Anthology Fans!!! Farrel here to share my very first design team member creation. Today I have created a double art journal page using Metal Effects Medium, Colorations Sprays and some stencils.

  1. To start I covered my pages with white gesso and then use Metal Effects – Dimensional Medium in the Silver with a stencil.

2. Once dry, I then sprayed my with some water and then sprayed Colorations Sprays in Siesta Keys, Peacock Feathers and Indigo in that order. The water helps the colours blend.

3. For my title, I stenciled “Create Art” using black archival ink and then cut the 2 pieces out and mounted onto black cardstock.

4. I wanted to colour the stamped butterflies so I used the same sprays for my background and used an aqua pen (water pen) to create a watercolour effect.

Here is some more pictures of the finished page

Art Anthology Products Used

Metal Effects – Silver

Colorations Spray – Siesta Key, Peacock Feathers, Indigo

Stencils – Diamond Grunge, Soliloquy

Please feel free to watch the process video below and thank you for dropping by, I hope I have inspired you to create in your art journal book with Art Anthology products.
