This is Jules bringing you some indulgence on my part. My husband and I hail from St. Louis, Mo. and, when we retired, we headed south to get away from too short springs, too long and too cold falls and sultry summers. The only season I miss living here in Paradise is Fall. So, here is my tribute to falling leaves, campfires and crisp nights.
I used Stayz On ink in Blazing Red and Olive green to stamp leaf images onto a piece of acrylic.
i outlined these stamps with Krylon gold ink and, once it dried, cut them out.
Next, I sprayed Colorations Spray in Salted Caramel onto a canvas, blotting here and there with a crumpled paper towel and respraying where I thought it needed a bit more allowing that to run down the canvas. I heat set this on a low temp.
I used an artist’s sponge to add Sorbet Dimensional paint in Vegas Gold and in Chocolate to the canvas dabbing them on.
To get the ‘crumpled leaf’ look I wanted, I heated this layer tile the colors bubbled a bit.
I still didn’t have the right mix of fall hues that I remembered so I dabbed on some Stone Effects in Brick…and voila!
I glued brown silk ribbon around the edges and used Beacon 3 in 1 adhesive to attach the leaves placing them in an overlapping design. I love how the colors and textures I created with the paints from Art Anthology make the leaves come alive!
I finished the 5×7 canvas with lettering and 3 glass pieces over the letters. So, dear Fall, I miss you!
