Down by the Sea

Here it is August already and summer is coming to a close.  I wanted to do one last “summery” project.  And what better to do this with than the amazing paints and sprays by Art Anthology!

I took a piece of burlap ribbon and trimmed off the edging.  I frayed the clipped edges both along the top and bottom and on both ends.

I used Beacon’s fabric stiffener and shaped it in waves.  I used a heat gun to accelerate the drying.

Next, I used 3 5 1/8 x 10 1/2 Giant Tags by Ranger Ink and sprayed them with Colorations Lark.  Because the spray goes on smoothly,  I had to deliberately splotch large spots of the color. I  dabbed these with a paper towel.

I placed the formed burlap ribbon across the bottom of the 3 tags and sprayed with Colorations in Guacamole.  I over sprayed in several areas of the exposed tag and moved these pools of color with my heat gun to create more of a water color effect.

I removed the burlap ribbon saving it for later.

Using Sorbet in Mint Julip and a broad paint brush, I layered paint onto the edges of the tags leaving the inside edges untouched.  I also painted the edges of the burlap ribbon.

After I adhered the 3 tags to each other, I printed the Umbrella Girl digital images from Gecko Galz onto adhesive backed canvas paper and used soft colored pencils to enhance the color. I added these to the tags.

I used ribbon I had previously dyed with 2 parts water to 1 part Colorations spray in Grass to the top and arranged the letters upon the ribbon.  Last, I used the colored burlap to form corners for the outside tags.

I hope you enjoy my Down by the Sea as much as I enjoyed creating it.  These are amazing products and I love using them all.
