My 2018 Power Word “Serenity” by Toni

Happy 2018 to everyone. For my first design team project for Art Anthology I wanted to do a layout featuring my chosen power word for this year “Serenity”. Inspired also by our beautiful mood board this month….Art Anthology has the most vivid gorgeous colors to accomplish my layout.

I began  by altering my background by sponging on Velvet Tuxedo through our Meridian Stencil and then added lovely texture with our Chevron stencil and using the gold paint from the Rust Texture Set. If you don’t have this set you can also use Sorbet-Vegas Gold, but I encourage you to get our rust set as it is so much fun to work with. Flowers were sprayed and painted with our Colorations Sprays and Sorbet and Velvet paints.Seed beads were added to enhance the stamens and centers of the flowers. Wishing you a New Year filled with love, hope and joy and that your new beginnings will provide opportunities to make a difference in the world. xoxo Toni

Mixed media canvas about Maths…

Happy New Year from Valerie !

There is no reason to create less than in 2017, right ? I hope you start this new year with alot of projects in mind, and I hope I will help you in your creativity with my new project inspired by the January moodboard…

That was a lot of work but I am so pleased with the result ! I wanted to create a canvas to celebrate Maths and found a quote from Albert Einstein : “Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.” I had my title !

I used three different stencils, two from the Off the Grid stack, and the Blocked stencil. You will also find some Mud texture paste and Plush Colorations spray.

And I did play with Velvet and Sorbet mediums : Orchid, Mayan gold, Purple Rain, Mardi Gras and Dragon Fruit.

Maths are so important in the progress of the human kind… In fact, they are present everywhere, especially in art ! I think this piece could be a perfect gift for a Maths teatcher… Never too early to think about end-of-the-school-year gift or even a dad’s day gift ?

You can watch my video tutorial to see my creative process right here :

And if you need another push to creativity, here is the moodboard to help you start with colors…

Once again happy new year, and see you soon for another mixed media project…

“Always Believe” by Toni

What a magical time of year Christmas is, filled with hope, joy and love. But for many it is a difficult time because of loss of loved ones, jobs, health and other events that happen in life.  My prayer is that my canvas today can bring  merriment to your day and inspire you. Being inspired by our December mood board was not difficult, such pretty vibrant colors.

I started by adhering different laces to my canvas and giving it a nice coat of gesso to prep for my paint and sprays. Using 2″x 2″ canvases to create my Christmas tree, I first applied scrapbook papers and then for texture and interest used our Twilight stencil to add stars to the top.  Christmas sprigs and pods were added to the sides and prepped with gesso then sprayed with gorgeous Colorations Sprays in Peacock Feathers and Sky.

Homemade snow was made by mixing equal parts of Sorbet Linen, baking soda and school glue, while still wet Diamond Dust glitter was sprinkled on top. Christmas berries were glued into place, a red bow was placed on top of the tree and my title was edged with Peacock Feather spray. More Linen was dabbed here and there and then Diamond Dust glitter was added for a holiday sparkle. Wishing you a time of Peace and Comfort…. xoxo Toni

For awesome texture, this time I used the Fragments and Lotus Stencils and my Art Anthology Mud.
I chose the always gorgeous Sky Colorations spray to start the color for my canvas. I love how this spray gets a little darker with each layer you add…giving you the perfect opportunity to get just what shade you want!

My Desire Velvet Medium added just the right amount of festive color.  To make it all shine, I added a coat of Splashed Clear Coat for some pretty sparkle.

Nature Is But A Canvas To The Imagination

Inspired by our beautiful mood board this month I decided to play with some leaves, twigs and dried flowers.

This is one of my most favorite times of the year. There is a brisk coolness in the air and I love all the beautiful deep changing colors. While cleaning up the yard I came across some gorgeous leaves and I thought they would assist beautifully in a fall canvas. I began by adhering my leaves and foliage to the canvas using matt gel and then gave it a nice coat of clear gesso in order to prime the surface for my mediums. The translucency of Art Anthology’s sprays are gorgeous and allowed the leaves to show through on the canvas while still enhancing the background with their vivid colors. Natural wood pieces were used for the base for the title “Mother Nature has the best box of crayons” which I felt was appropriate for this piece. Hope you were inspired and I encourage you to get creative with our mood board this month. Don’t forget to post your project so we can all enjoy and be inspired by you as well HERE. For your please, grab a cup of tea and enjoy my Snapguide tutorial below. Creatively yours, Toni

Hi everybody , Marleen here with a canvas inspired by the new October moodboard! Sign up for the newsletter, you will  see a moodbaord there every month.

I was also inspired with something I saw on Facebook. Making molds from stamps and make you own embellishments from paperclay. That is so much fun!

So I took an old handcarved stamp and made a mold.

The rest you see in the Snapguide tutorial, I hope you get inspired!

One of the things I love most about AA paints is their thick, luscious consistancy! You can add a little water and they take on a whole new effect! Even then, you can still add this mix in layers to get the exact color and dimension.
