Altered Antique Photo Album – Part 1 by Toni

Hi artsy friends, Toni here with a new design team project for Art Anthology. I have some very special photos that I had copied from my mother not too long ago and I hadn’t scrapped them yet, but I knew they deserved a special home just for them. So yesterday I was out and about antiquing (… is that a word ????) and I came across this wonderful vintage photo album, held together by metal brackets. I had to have it. I will admit is was a bit pricey but it screamed “ALTER ME ! “

The picture doesn’t really show it but it was in pretty bad shape, so it needed some fixin up.

Now this is a project in progress so this post will provide you tutorial for the cover process and then the next posts will be my journey on creating the pages within and finishing off with a post on my technique for the back cover.

The foundation texture was created using different laces, then adding on my embellishments of frames, metal pieces, assorted chipboards, buttons and glass pebbles.

Providing some extra texture I made some rusting paste with Art Anthology paints mixed with Texture powder and also included some Art Stones.

Lots of wonderfulness all wrapped up on this cover. Art Anthology provides for a multitude of different techniques. Please check out my Snapguide tutorial below for my  step x step process.

Wishing you a week of unlimited creative possibilities ! xoxo Toni

Love Rocks Journal Page

Hi everyone! Today I would like to share with you how to brighten the pages of your journal with all the beautiful colors available in Art Anthology Colorations!

I “build up” my journal pages as I go rather than doing them all at once. Most backgrounds I achieve come from “clean ups”. This is simply accomplished by laying journal page on craft mat to pick up inks and sprays left and dripped from other projects. I fond this technique to make for some really unique and beautiful backgrounds.

Here are a few more pictures to show some detail!!

For this journal page several steps were done over a period of several days.

Art Anthology Products used:

Colorations Sprays:

Peacock

Waimea Bay

Raider

Juicy

Sorbet – Coral

Minx – Immaculate

Minx – Enchanting (diluted with water)

Stencil – Let’s face it

Other products:

White, teal, purple and clear embossing powders

stamps

Black Archival Ink

Waterbrush

Aqua black Stabilo pencil

I hope you have enjoyed this journal page project I created. Happy Creating!!

Found..mixed media canvas board

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing this “found in the ocean” inspired canvas board I created using Art Anthology products.

The ocean is by far one of my favorite places to visit. Combing the beaches for agates and aged trinkets is so much fun. For this little mixed media canvas, I was inspired by what salt water does to metal objects over time. The rust and patina it creates is stunning to me! By taking a metal spoon and a few other metal embellishments and using Art Anthology mediums in combination with some other products I was able to recreate this stunning look! It always amazes me what you can do with inks, paints, and pastes!

I created a lot of layers using various AA sprays in combination with some other mediums. This also added lots of texture and dimension to this piece.

This is the products I used from Art Anthology:

Mini Mixed Media Tag Album with Brandy

Hello Art Anthology fans! I’m here to share a very fun project! Yes, it’s a mini album, but it also folds out to be a pretty decoration you can add a few pictures to.

I used a few AA stencils and a couple AA paints to create the one of a kind background for each tag page. A couple of pieces of chipboard and some ribbon later, and you have yourself a pretty little mini album. 🙂

As usual, I’ve made a Snapguide Tutorial for this project! Come give it a try!

Paint on clay Winter banner

Hello my dear crafty friends!

Irit from Irit Shalom Designs is here today and I am going to share my new Art Anthology experiment- using Art Anthology products over the dry polymer clay surfaces.

During my time on this team I try to use Art Anthology paints over different surfaces and to see the results. So far I used wood , canvas, cardstock and clear acrylic board. Today I used polymer clay pieces and I need to say that Art Anthology products work perfectly over this surfaces too.

So here is a Winter banner I made with Makin’s Clay non baked polymer clay (you just need to wait like 12 hours before it’s totally dry to apply the paints over the surface).

And now for some close ups to all three banner pieces:

As you can sew from those close- ups I used Art Anthology stencil and dimentional paint over the clay surface and it’s works perfectly!

So here is a full step by step tutorial for you:

And as always- full Art Anthology product list is HERE:

I hope that I inspired you to try totally different surfaces with our fantastic products!

See you soon again!

XO XO by Toni

Hi everyone, Happy February, it’s the month of love… and well if you know me you know how much I love steampunk. I love everything about it, the fantasy, the grunge, the unusual, the colors, the Victorian feel to it. It does not limit my imagination, I can go wild with transforming an ordinary object into something crazy and unexpected.

I purchased these two letters quite some time ago at my local craft store on clearance. Originally they were $14.99 a piece…. what !!!! But I got them for $2.00 each, what a steal.

Loaded with lots of yummy textures enhanced with Art Anthology’s paints, sprays and pastes helped achieve the aged look.

With the use of Art Anthology’s stencil,  drippings from my glue gun and lots of different sized seed beads, my new wall art work started to come alive.

I just love using unexpected items in my art work and my letter here is filled with floral rocks that were beautifully transformed with Art Anthology’s paints.

Many of my items on this piece were made from paperclay, grunge board or plastic, but the patina’d look that AA’s paste and paints provides transforms them into metal-like piece.

I hope this has inspired you to enter the world of steampunk, don’t be afraid, let your imagination run free and just have fun with it. For your pleasure I have included a Snapguide tutorial for your viewing and also below are a list of products from AA that helped me achieve the look I was going for. xoxo Toni
