Skull candy by Valerie

Hello there !

I want to give to some ideas for Halloween or Day of the Dead today. Its’ not too early considering you could already find Christmas decorations in stores…

I saw this plaster skull few weeks ago and knew I had to paint it with AA mediums ! Skull candy are usually more colorful, but black and gold were a perfect fit for a classy and frightful look… So I started with this :

Black gesso for the base, Dazzle Clear Coat and Gold Metal Effect mediums for the painting part. I added metal beads and charms, few more painting, et voila !

Black gesso gave a matt finish to the skull. So I add the Dazzle for the glossy and sparkly look of this clear coat.

Depending on the thickness of your coat of paint, the Gold Metal Effect will have a solid finish or be just a touch. Here you can see the solid look :

And on the lacy flower is just an highlight in the center :

I made a video tutorial for you, but be indulgent as I am still in a temporary appartment in Houston and had to let my daughter shoot the video in my kitchen with my phone…

Altered clipboard by Valerie

Hello AA lovers !

The project I have to show you today has something special… First I was supposed to post 3 days ago… But life got in the way and I wasn’t able to have my hand on AA products before two days ago on the AA booth at the CKC event in Houston ! You don’t really think a hurricane can stop me meeting AA people and create something for you, don’t you ?

So while there, I was able to create an altered clipboard (everybody has their kid at school by now, right ?) with what I found there : plenty of AA products, a stamp, a pen and… paper towel !

I worked on a plain clipboard covered with white gesso, building layers with stencils and different mediums. You can spot the Retro stencil as well as the Got Your Number and the Soliloquy stencils.

I usedĀ Barbie Colorations spray for the background and Raider Colorations spray for the edges and the splatters.

For the stenciled patterns, I used 50 Shades GreyĀ andĀ Orchid Velvet medium, plus Imperial Sorbet medium.

I did a step-by-step video tutorial for you that you can watch or on the Art Anthology YouTube channel :

Thank you for stopping by today ! I already know what I will create for my next AA post, so see you soon…

Art journal with face stencil

Hello crafters !

Did you see the moodboard this month ? It’s full of interesting textures and colors !

The creamy gold and copper, the splash of blue and waves inspired me to create an art journal spread with a face stencil. It has a mermaid vibe, with a background looking like rusty metal decorations under the sea and mermaid eye deep as the sea.

I use several stencil by Art Anthology in these pages : Let’s face it for the girl, Dot matrix, Lotus and Inspired grunge for the background, plus Expressions stencil for the journaling.

Lot of mediums and inks here ! Sandcastle Colorations spray for the base, then Peacock Feathers and Siesta Key before playing with the stencils and the mediums in Amber, Mayan gold, Lagoon and Kenyan copper.

I also add somme drop of Radiance Minx and Gold Dust Minx for the rusty look.

Want to learn more about how I created these art journal pages ? Watch my complete video tutorial on AA YouTube channel :

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope the moodbard and the DT projects will help you create something ! If you are looking for more inspiration, try the AA Instagram account orĀ AA Pinterest boards

Art Journal tutorial

Bonjour !

Valerie today to present you a new tutorial : a mixed media Art Journal !

I love create scrapbook pages, but sometimes I just want to put some colors on paper, add a little stamp or two, nothing fancy but satisfying for my creating cravings… Using paints, inks, stencils and stamps on a journal spread is perfect for this kind of mood ! And as I wanted some sunshine (that I didn’t have outside), my pages are very sunny…

Starting with Glorious Colorations spray and Allure Minx, I built the background with the Retro and Blocked stencils and the Juicy Colorations spray and Tango Velvet Dimensional medium.

Few stamps colored with Patience Colorations spray and Red Velvet Sorbet Dimensional medium, some alpha stickers and a black pen and you’re done!

As usual, you will find the complete video tutorial on the Art Anthology YouTube channel or just watch it from here :

Thank you for stopping by the AA blog today, see you soon for my next project…
