Trust Your Heart Wall Art

Hello everyone! Jenn here sharing my latest project for the Art Anthology Dream Team!

I created a lovely wall art piece with amazing stencils and mediums from Art Anthology!

The products used for my project:
Art Anthology Colorations Sprays – Plush, Ink Spot, Siesta Key
Art Anthology Fairy Dust Shimmer Spray – Sterling
Art Anthology Minx – Stargazer
Art Anthology Stencils – Floral Tile, Wheel

I have also used:
Heavy White Gesso
AB Studio Papers
Chipboard,Beads, and Flowers from Reneabouquets
Sentiment
Glitter
Microbeads
Black Ink Pad
Rubber Stamps
Modeling Paste

To create my piece, I started with a wooden heart from my local craft store that is 11″ wide by about 8″ tall. I coated it with heavy white gesso twice and allowed it to dry.
I then added modeling paste through the Floral Tile stencil randomly and allowed it to dry. I added another layer of heavy white gesso over the stenciling. Next, I mixed AA Minx in Stargazer to modeling paste and applied it randomly through the Wheel stencil and allowed to dry.

Next, I added spritzes of the Colorations sprays alternating colors and allowing to dry in between. I also added drips of the Stargazer Minx for the shimmer effect seen.

Next, I started building my composition, adhering elements at different levels by using foam under them.

Fiinally, once my composition was complete, I added microbeads, glitter, and AA Sterling Shimmer Spray.

“One of A Kind” – A Layout by Jenn

Hello Art Anthology Friends and fans! Jenn here today sharing my latest Art Anthology project. I have created a soft, elegant layout using colorations sprays, stencils, and sorbets from AA!

For this layout I have used the following products available at Art Anthology.

AA Colorations Sprays in SalmonClover

AA Stencils – Art NuveauBlocked

AA Sorbet –Seaweed

To start my layout I applied score tape to a medium weight chipboard and adhered by background paper to it.

After adding my paper, I applied a heavy layer of clear gesso and allowed it to dry completely.
While it was drying, I sprayed a sheet of watercolor paper with water and Colorations Spray in Salmon and dried with my heat tool.

This paper was used to make die cuts.
Next I added stenciling using AA Stencils and texture paste as well as AA Sorbet in Seaweed with the Blocked stencil.

Next, more Salmon Colorations spray was added to the stenciled areas mixed with water to create a watercolor effect.
Finally, I added all of my embellishments, die cuts, art stones, and flowers.

Stay Strong Art Journal Layout by Jenn DuBell

Hello everyone! Jenn here today sharing with you a layout in my art journal using Art Anthology sprays and mediums!

I find art journaling to be one of the most relaxing art forms. Whenever I feel like my “creative mojo” is lost, I just sit down with some paper scraps, sprays, mediums, stamps and stencils along with an art journal and let my mind do the work! This page came from one of these times.

I love the different effects that you can achieve using Art Anthology products. I have used many in this layout.

AA Velvets – Fiji, Cotton, Boysenberry, Dayglow Yellow
AA Shines – Grape, Azalea, Canary
AA Colorations – Patience, Juicy, Siesta Key
AA Stencils – Bits of Grunge, Blocked, Dot matrix
Additional items used:
White and clear Gesso
Clear embossing powder
Black Archival Ink
Stamps
printed napkins

After coating my pages with clear gesso, I added spritzes of Colorations sprays in Patience. I added spritzes of water and allowed it to run a bit as well as using a brush to pick up excess and swipe along edges.

Next, I used my fingers and a brush to smear some AA Velvet in Dayglow Yellow mixed with a small amount of water.

Next I mixed AA velvets in Fiji and Cotton with a bit of white gesso to achieve the aqua color seen. I used the Cotton through a script stencil and the mixed color with the AA Dot Matrix stencil. I used the reverse side of the stencil to use the excess paint by rubbing onto areas of my pages.

Next I added some random stamping and more stenciling. Using a soft gel medium, I applied a torn bit of a napkin (Jane Davenport) for the faces.

Finally I added lots of AA colors to my stamping along with more stenciling for my final result! I added a bit more hair by blending AA mediums in yellows and oranges. They blend very well against the napkin edge!

Art Anthology Rust and Cork Journey

Hello everyone! Jenn here today sharing my altered cork wall decor using amazing products from Art Anthology!

Products used:

AA Colorations Sprays in Juicy, Timeless, and Peacock Feathers
AA  Velvets in Cotton and Fiji
AA Minx Shimmering Ink in Allure
AA Texture Set Rust
White Acrylic paint
White Gesso
Heavy Matte Medium for adhering
Hot Glue Gun

Start with a clean cork plaque like this one. You can use any shape you like.

Here is a poster showing each step. See my instructions listed below.

  1. I started by adhering some vintage lace and cardboard shapes for dimension and texture.
  2. Next, adhere all metal, plastic, wood, and chipboard embellishments using a strong adhesive, glue gun, or gel medium.
  3. Coat entire piece in heavy white gesso. This will probably take a few coats drying between each.
  4. Once gesso is completely dry add spritzes of AA Colorations juicy and water. Let this dry or use a heat tool to speed up drying.
  5. Once dry add spritzes of AA colorations Timeless and water and allow to dry.
  6. In between coats i added a bit of AA Minx Shimmering ink in Allure and dried.
  7. Coat the bare areas in AA Velvet Cotton and then brush edges in AA velvet Fiji as seen here.
  8. Keep layering the colors and adding colorations as needed until desired level of rust look is achieved.

***Extra Hint*** If you prefer a lighter look once everything has dried completely, Use a drybrush technique in white and lightly brush over as seen in comparison below. This is how I completed mine.

I just love all the rusty goodness achieved with these products!

Altered Sea Shell Bottle by Guest Designer Suzette Hussey

Art Anthology products used:
Art Anthology Colorations Spray – Granny Smith
Art Anthology Colorations Spray – Siesta Key
Other Supplies:

Glass bottle
Gesso
Seashells
Crushed egg shells
Pebeo Sand Texture Gel
Gesso
Heavy Gel – Matte
Spray Varnish
Jute twine
Wooden Beads
Charm

Step 1

Paint the bottle with gesso. You may need more than one  coat depending on the thickness of your gesso.

Step 2

Using heavy gel, stick on shells around the top and base of the bottle.

Step 3

Now add the crushed egg shells and allow to dry.

Step 4

Add more texture to the area with the sand texture paste. Allow that to dry thoroughly before moving on.

Step 5

Paint the entire bottle with gesso. You will need several coats. Allow to dry thoroughly between each coat.

Step 6

Spray all over with Art Anthology’s Colorations Spray- Siesta Key.

Make sure  that you get in all the grooves. You may need to turn it on the side and dry with a heat gun before spraying another section.

Step 7

Add more coats until you get the desired effect.

Step 8

Now spray lightly with Art Anthology’s Colorations Spray Granny Smith. Isn’t that beautiful? Allow to dry overnight.

Step 9

To seal the color spray with any spray varnish you have on hand I used a matte varnish by Plaid Crafts. Give it two coats.

Step 10

Finish off by adding some jute twine around the neck of the bottle and attach a charm.  Add some wooden beads to the ends of the twine and knot each end so they don’t fall off.

Tip – light a candle and dip the ends of the twine into the melted wax. Allow it to cool for a second and then pinch each end bringing to a smooth point. This will help the twine to move easily through the beads.
