Build Your Wings Layout by Toni

Hi everyone, Toni here with a new scrapbook layout enhanced with Art Anthology products. It’s so easy to add to your scrapbook layout using Art Anthology’s paints and sprays. Here I enhanced the paper using  a couple Coloration sprays…. Salmon and Sedona. There are so many Colorations to choose from, this will allow you to custom create your background paper to match or highlight your photos. Using Art Anthology Lattice Stencil provided a fun way to create some wings on my photo. Using Mud Paste and the addition of Diamond Dust glitter while paste is still wet really enhanced the wings. Hope you are inspired to add some Art Anthology products to your next scrapbook layouts. Below is a list of supplies list and also a process video for your pleasure.

Mixed Media Jewelry Christmas Tree by Toni

Merry Christmas everyone, today it’s my turn up on the blog with a new project for Art Anthology. I decided to recycle some old jewelry that I had in my stash and alter it into a Christmas tree decor piece. I used the backside of the canvas for the base of the project and started adding my pieces of jewelry in a shape of a tree, then primed the surface with white gesso. Then I started adding my pretty Coloration sprays and Minx Shimmering Inks.  For more added texture, I also added Mud Paste with art stones to the back of the tree. The outside frame was embellished using AA’s Ringlet stencil as well as Sorbet paints. All the products for AA used are listed below as well as a process video for your pleasure. Hope you have been inspired. Have a magical Christmas season !

Altered Art Journal Cover by Toni

Hi everyone…. Toni here with a fun and easy way to spruce up your art journal cover using Art Anthology products. First prepping the surface with gesso then I adhered different elements to the cover, such as grungeboard letters and latex lace.  I decided to use “Anthology” as my title which I feel is perfect  Merriam Webster says:  anthology  noun an·thol·o·gy  Definition of anthology  1a collection of selected literary pieces or passages or works of art or music.

I used two different stencils (listed below) and Mud Texture Paste to give more yummy texture. Finished off with some Vintage Gold wax for highlights. Hope you enjoyed  and take one of your journals or album covers and give it a face lift. For your pleasure I have included a process video below. Happy creating ! xoxo Toni

Cozy Christmas Layout by Toni

Merry Christmas everyone, today I have a fun festive layout with a photo I took of my daughter last Christmas. This is a very easy layout but the use of AA’s stencils and Mud Texture Paste just sends it over the top special… I think.    This month we are encouraging our followers to try out your stencils.

I used the Twilight Stencil and Mud Texture Paste, then I also ran through the same stencil with Metal Effects Gold. While the Mud was still wet I sprinkled dark red microbeads on.  Some of the chipboard pieces were highlighted with the Metal Effects Gold as well. I added DIY snow to alot of the project with Diamond Dust sprinkled over the top of layout as well as poinsettias. This layout only took me a couple hours…. which is very fast for me. Give our stencils a  try, they will not disappoint.

Adventure Awaits Layout by Toni

Hi everyone…. hope you are having a nice November and today I have a fall type layout to show you how versatile our stencils are here at Art Anthology. Over the past couple years I have fallen in love with mixed media mainly because of the freedom it allows and the textures you get to experiment with. But many of us are scrapbookers and you may think “mixed media isn’t for me.” Well let me tell you once you start playing with it on your layouts there is no going back. I now look back at some of my older layouts and am amazed how much more of my own personal expression is displayed thankfully from the help of mixed media products.  You can get as textured as you want or as simple as you want, it just depends on your own creative eye and preference. On this layout I only used one of our stencils but it happens  to have 3 different patterns on it, so I utilized each one differently.

     Scales Stencil

Art Anthology’s Mud is perfect to run through the stencil for some texture but the paints, being a gel base are dimensional and they can be run through a stencil as well. It’s fun too if you don’t have just that perfect patterned paper on hand you can take plain cardstock and spray through the stencils for a pattern of your liking. Art Anthology has so many different styles of stencils to choose from.Below I have provided a video so you can watch my creative process and maybe I’ll be able to share a technique or two with you on ways to add just a little bit of something different on your layouts.

Thank you and have a crafty month !

Enjoy The Ride Journal Page by Toni

Hi everyone, well it’s the last day to create something for Halloween and this really was an impromtu project. Playing in my art journal always gives me the freedom to try new things, not to stress just have fun and I hope this post encourages you to do that as well.

Keeping in  this month’s moodboard I came up with this page.  Mixed Media often intimidates many of us, including myself at times and that is why I push myself to “Play”. If you’ve ever been surfing the web and you see some artist with this unbelievable talent, I guarantee they will say, they “Play” with their paints, inks, paper just to see the effects they can get. I’m a firm believer “use it or lose it”… in other words the more you create and experiment the more accomplished you become. Layers upon layers of fun is what mixed media is all about, and sometimes you may come upon that so-called “Happy Accident”.  One technique I tried on this page was to add Seth Aptner’s Baked Enamel embossing to my wet AA Mud Texture Paste and see what kind of effect I would get, and yes I loved it. It bubbled and chipped and cracked and you know all that wonderful stuff. Something else I wanted to try was my Sorbet “Glass” to see if I can use it as an adhesive for my foiling and gilding flakes, and what do you know it worked.  Below I have a video so you can watch my creative process for this journal page.

So start some art journaling and just “Play” … Remember there is no need to be afraid of mixed media, just enjoy the ride.

Apothecary of Creativity by Toni

Hi everyone, hope you are having a great month. Today I have a DT project inspired by our October moodboard.

I love recycling items and I usually keep empty paint containers just in case…. lol…So I wanted to use them to make a Halloween decoration to display on my table. The outside of the box was textured using Art Anthologys Rust and Patine Texture Sets. And the bottles were textured by running Stone Effects-Sandstone through a few of our stencils. All supplies will be listed below. I have prepared a video for you if you would like to view my creative process. Hope you get a few new techniques to use with your AA products. Happy creating xoxo Toni

Vintage Jack-O-Lantern by Toni

Happy October everyone! For my DT project I decided to create something fun to place on my table for Halloween. It’s whimsical and I used several of AA’s great products. Hope you are inspired.A paper mache ball and cone was transformed into “Jack” O Lantern, all ready for the upcoming festivities. He’s got his party hat on and he’s ready to have fun !  Jack’s head was given texture with Mud Paste and also Terracotta from the Rust Set.

The fringe around his hat and neck were created with crepe paper stained with Colorations in Juicy, Raider and Plush. Collage paper for his body was made of tissue paper that was coffee stained and then stenciled with Sorbet-Imperial.

Hope you enjoyed and I have a YOUTUBE video for you to watch the creative process if you desire. Have a spook-tacular month !

Steampunk Hat Gift Box by Toni

Hi everyone, did you get inspired by our moodboard this month…. so so pretty !

My next project was totally inspired by this moodboard, the lovely vintage colors and flowers as well as that amazing Steampunk vibe. A friend of mine’s birthday is coming up and I decided to make her a gift box in the shape of a Steampunk Hat means she adores Steampunk like I do.  I started off with an inexpensive paper mache box from Hobby Lobby and primed it with black gesso. Then I coated my 3D Texture Fade in Mechanicals with our beautiful Sorbets in Patience, Amber, and Purple Rain. A bit messy I will admit but I love the effect you get when you emboss the paints right into the fibers of the papers. Coloration sprayed my flowers and added some metal embellishments and feathers and there you go.  For your pleasure I have included a video below. Hope you take time to view and are inspired. xoxo Toni

The Colors of Autumn/Acetate Tag by Toni

Hi everyone, Toni here with a fun mixed media acetate tag. Yes Art Anthology products work beautifully on acetate as long as you prep it properly first. This months mood board inspired me with not only the gorgeous colors with the flowers, the vintage feel and warmth.  All this to welcome the autumn season that is coming up.

Prepping the surface with our Sorbet/Glass run through our Beehive stencil. Then Sorbets Velvets, Shines and Colorations were used for the dramatic colors on both flowers and tag. For your pleasure I have included a YOUTUBE video so you can watch my creative process. Hope you enjoy and are inspired. Try creating something using this beautiful palette of colors and photos and post it on our FACEBOOK page for all our followers to enjoy ! xoxo Toni
